Help - Holy Coralline

Looking for someone to give me an ingenuitive idea of how to get rid of all this coralline algae that has taken over since I got lazy cleaning. The tank is acrylic so metal razor blades are out. Unfortunately the tank is under a stairwell so I have very little headroom and getting a scraper with a long handle is not really an option. Plus the coral growth would make it almost impossible to get an angle on a scraper with any pressure. I have a magnavore 8 with a acrylic scraper on it but it slow going and takes about 30 passes to remove any of the coralline. I welcome any ideas, thanks

Wow, it's like a scratch off card. Let's scratch it off and see what we won! Anxiously waiting the big reveal, LOL!

My god man... is that your front pane? :eek1:

haha, that was my first thought!

Lol I wish my coralline grew half as well as that.

be careful what you wish for. even with 3 urchins (2 of them pincushions), i scrape coralline off of the front and sides every time i do a water change.

OP, in your situation, i would simply upgrade and just ditch this tank!

I'll have to post a before and after, think I'll try to spend 15-30 min a day working on it, maybe by Christmas time I'll be done.

If you have acrylic, use a credit card....and get to scrubbing. Your arm is gonna be so sore lol

All kidding aside, this would be your best bet me thinks.
Like you said, do a little at a time. But between coralline scraping, make sure to keep the newly cleaned acrylic algae free.

Good luck!
And be sure to post updates!
