Help my Maxima

Hi,

I bought a maxima clam about 10 days. she was doing well, but right now i don't know if it's something wrong, and what. She isn't expanding that much her mantle and the middle looks kind of without any color, i can see through it.

My setup is:
160gal
2 250w 14k blv+ t5 39actinic
atb medium
PO4 = 0
NO3 = 5
KH = 8.9
Calcium = 450
mg = 1320.

I have been dosing koralcolor and CoralAmino following the instructions for a week now.

The link isn't working for me. Can you post another picture? Is the inhalent siphon open wide while the mantle is retracted? How large is the clam?

ur link isnt good. without a pic, its hard to tell. a retracted mantle isnt good. clams usually go pretty fast once they show signs of deterioration.

I couldn't see the photos but losing color is a sign of bleaching and my guess is this is an issue with photoacclimation. Too much light for a newly acquired clam can cause problems.
I would put it down low for a while until it adjusts and then put it up higher.

And the clam is in the sand bed, and the inhalent siphon looks flat to me, in the same level as the mantle, not the long normal one

I founded the fking snails under the clam. If think i removed all of them (5). Do you think that the snails were all the problem!?

better than a 6 line is to make absolutely sure that you clean and keep clean the clam. there are better, more detailed sites than that, as much as i admire that magazine, you need more specifics. it takes 6 full weeks of no snails/no eggs to be safe.
you need to remove sand also and scrub clam with a toothbrush and burp the clam when returning it to the dt, using a small tupperware container w/sand and new sand each scrub, the clam should not be in the general sand population, but be qt'd in the container.

Thanks for the help! Some questions:
I cleaned with a brush, but i couldn't clean all the base because it had some sand attached. How long do i have to wait between the cleaning procedures?!
Can i use a tupperware without any sand?

get a nice soft brush and clean around the foot well, out of water, over a sink, holding the clam sideways most of the time. the sand will come off and you won't hurt the clam [they can be exposed to air, as lo0ng as none remains in their shell in the water --burp it]. i would def'ly use sand in the container, only a little is needed.if i saw a snail, i'd wait 24 hours before the next clean; no snails 48 hrs. no snails OR EGGS after 2 consecutive cleanings, then religiously twice a week for 2 months from the time of the last snail. you need to get every last bstrd.

So far so good with me. I am rehabing a 4" Maxima i got froma guy shutting down his tanks that had a few pyramid snails on it

I keep a large tupperware container and drop the clam into that for cleaning to keep from exposing him to air as much.

Also you can keep the clam in a shallow container in the tank with a bit of sand to isolate any that might still be around.

Its a long haul thing. I check mine each mornign as I am about to go out the door since the lights are off and I can see if any are back

+1 on above statements. I had a squamosa with the snails and the procedure took care of them shortly. You just got to be very strick and even though you might not see them for a couple days that doesn't mean they aren't there. They come out at night so I would also check with a flashlight at night. Be careful around brushing the foot area though. You do not want to scrub the foot itself and damage it. Just the shell part .
