I cant get a clear picture for the life of me.. particles in the water make my focus, focus on everything but what im trying to take a picture of..
everything comes out blurry..
Anyone know what my settings should be on to stop this?

Coupla suggestions- try focusing on something that is nice and contrasty (lots of texture) and that is the same distance away as your intended subject-- once the autofocus has locked on aim the camera back at your intended subject- all the while keeping the shutter release button pressed halfway so that the focus stays locked. It sounds like your autofocus is having trouble and that's fairly common- all af systems have trouble with smooth uncontrasty surfaces and aquariums present all kinds of difficulties with the water and glass and floating particles.
If you're shooting close-ups make sure the camera is in macro mode.
If you're shooting moving fish you might want to try a scene mode like sports- that will force the camera to select a fast shutter speed and that will help with the sharpness and specs in the water.
Post a picture or two and maybe we can make some better suggestions.
