Ho Hum, another 180G in wall (pics and need advice)

thanks akbuuur

Update: I'm working on my auto water change system now, but haven't had the time to finish, maybe new pics next weekend.

I also recently tore (slightly) my toadstool leather in a siphoning accident ;), he has not been happy for the last couple of days, but the tear looks fine, it's not changing color (or turning black).

I realized that the Oceanic salt and the topoffs have been causig my alk to drop. I tested some freshly mixed saltwater and the alk was about 70% of where it should be. I figured out that adding 3 teaspoons of baking soda gets it right where needed. I may have to do that with my topoff as well, anyone do this? bad/good?

A couple more quick pix from this weekend, I took with my camera phone, so not the best, but not bad.

since they are 100 micron bag, then I would say yes to the pods getting in. But my fuge was set up as less as a nutrient export, but to add more water volume to the system and eventually use as additional filtration (add some chaeto down the road as well) to keep the main tank free of runaway algae.

I do plan on putting some baffles in down the road, in case I want to start sticking some new additions in there, as right now it's too turbulent and anything that swims would likley get sucked into the filter bags!

only thing I regret about the plumbing is putting some flow control on the outputs. Right now, the top two outputs that split into two each (using loc line) are not the same flow, because the left one extends down to another output that blows accross the back of the tank at the bottom.

I did find a solution, they sell loc line valves that I could attach to allow more control over these, but they run about $7-8 a pop.

gates a good for precise "valving", but I don't think they sell gate valves for loc line ;)

otherwise, I'd need to completely redo by return plumbing, I'm not ready for that yet! :D

Quick question and I dont know if this has been addressed or not. Do you have a way of shutting off the water flow from the sump to the dart, incase you had to remove it?

it's kind of silly, but sorta overlooked.

I have a 90 degree elbow that feeds thru the bulkhead to the dart.

I simply turn it upside down and attached another tube that goes above the water level and voila! I've tried it a few times and it works. Of course putting a valve before the dart woulda been the smart thing, but I have space concerns and it would have been too tight.

I also got my waterchange system up and running (somewhat)

the freshwater RO/DI with the float valve (brute 32 gal), using a Mag 6 to pump to the salt mixing can:

This is plumbed across the room....

...to another 32 gal brute canister for mixing and holding salt water with a Quiet one 6000 set up for mixing and pumping to the tank.

As you can see, I don't have the "pumping to the main tank" sompleted yet. I am trying to decide how best to do this. I am thinking of going overhead (the 6000 can pump it I believe) and into the mian display. I also will need to "t" it off with a valve system so I can pump water to my 45 gal QT tank when necessary.
