HOB Skimmer for a 40g breeder?

90g DT got ich, taking out all fish, doing tank transfer method and then placing them in a 40g breeder I bought for the fallow period. I've been thinking that it'll likely be a lot less stressfull for me with water changes and what-not if I get a protein skimmer? Cheap is good, no leaks is a must . I don't need anything fancy, tank has no sump btw.
