HoB skimmers nowadays?

I didn't realize you also needed the impeller. You are probably right, you just need to get a new skimmer. Unless you just have to have it now, I would wait until July 4th. Several places should be running 10 to 15% off sales so you could at least save some money.

I found an old thread on another board talking about the MCE300 and they were using MJ1200 on it with the needle wheel impeller. I guess they have made changes to the MJ1200.

Battlecorals thought they might have them and were also going to check with Germany but I haven't heard back from him after I told him that Marine Depot thought the system was discontinued 9 years ago. So...maybe?

As far as the MJ, part of my problem is that there's an after-market impeller in it - it's a needle wheel rather than a standard prop so even if I could get it I'd need to track down a different impeller.

I've basically arrived at the point that I just need to suck it up and buy a new skimmer

I ended up buying this last night. The price was good, it was mentioned in this thread earlier, and I found a really good review on it that makes me think it'll fit really well in the spot I had my Deltec. A little sorry to the see the old one go but also kinda excited to get my new toy too. I'm calling it my father's day gift to make myself feel better!

Cool, glad you found something. I do find it strange all these places are having fathers day sales on Fathers day weekend. Shouldn't the sales have been last weekend so the Fathers could get their gifts on Fathers day?

An old thread indicated a Red Devil Sp3 would be suitable for an MCE 500. I don't know if it would work on a 300.
