Holy Grail fish

One of my favorite parts of this hobby has been learning about these amazing animals. I love reading threads about hobbyists who have collected rare and exotic fish. I loved reading about Copps' trip to Asia.

So what are the holy grail fish? Obviously, the expensive fish on Divers Den. But what else? Here are some that I would think qualify:

Gem tang
Conspicuous angel
Clarion angel
Peppermint angel
Narcosis angel
Dr. Seuss soapfish
Feminus Wrasse

What am I missing? Please include the full name of the fish, scientific or otherwise, so I can google it.

Good question .....

For me the 'achievables' are Gem Tang, Zebra Tang and Tigerpyge Angel. I'd love a Peppermint, but that's never happening.

Lots of peppermint talk lately on this forum. I think at the end of the day, it really is one of the most beautiful fish out there. Those colors. Just stunning, at least to me.

I think the fact that it's basically a dwarf angel - if that thing got big like an emp or conspic....

Holy grail fish for me:
- a spawning pair of Pygoplites diacanthus - working on it :D
- a pair of Amphiprion latezonatus - price is just prohibitive for me right now
- a pair of Opistognathus rosenblatti - working on it...
- a pair of Amphiprion chrysogaster - no space right now
- a pair of Amphiprion ocellaris, (fancy Philippine variety, wild) - no space right now
- a pair of Doryrhamphus janssi
- a pair of Opistognathus randalli - no space right now
nothing really special but all fish I had in the past.

Other fish I would be interested in:
- a pair of Amphiprion sp. "Darwin" affin. ocellaris (wild)
- a pair of Doryrhamphus japonicas
- a pair of Opistognathus eximius
- a pair of Opistognathus decorus
- a pair of Opistognathus cyanospilotus
- a pair of Opistognathus panamaensis (well it's basically a rosenblatti)
- a pair of Centropyge resplendens - I guess the only way to get those would be illegally

... there is probably an ocean full of other interesting fish I would like to have (and breed)

I have been trying to track down a pair of lipogramma klayi for some time now. If anyone can give me a lead to tracking them down Id appreciate it!

The cynic in me wonders whether a fish like the peppermint would be as coveted if it weren't as scarce in the hobby. Agree it's a handsome fish, but there are others far nicer.

Don't quote the troll. It makes extra clean up for the staff. Thanks ~ Sugar
