Today I bought a rose bubble tip anemone for 50 Bucks. It was suppose to be a medium, but it seems to me it's a small. The size of it is mayb the length of my pinky finger and it's red\orange.
What size was yours when you bought it and how BIG did it end up opening to? ALso how fast do u think they grow? The guy at the LFS said they grow fast and that the smaller ones have a longer life expectency\ healthier life. DO u think that's true?
I'm just waiting for it go blow up....WB . Ok BYE

The size of the length of a pinky finger is very very small. But then again, if you take a 4-6" anemone and poked it with your finger over and over liked you were trying to dig it out of a hole, you could get it to the size of a pinky finger. Possible but not good. My original anemone was probably 3-4" and had shrunk down to the size literally of a half dollar. It lived in a 20 gallon and didn't grow and constantly traveled around for months. When I moved it into a 240 gallon it prospered and grew expodentially. I think the going rate for RBTA's in the bay area is $10 per inch of inflated size from private parties. LFS' charge 2 to three times that. More or less depending on the color. My opinion is that larger RBTA's are healthier and the smallest ones most delicate. Life expectency can be forever seeing that they keep cloning. If one dies, it is not from old age.

While it wasn't a rose --- it was a green one --- I would say it was about 4" across, when I sold it it was at least 15 inches across. Not really sure of the time frame, anywhere from a year to 5 years -- couldn't keep track of what was the original and which ones were clones.

I would think the smaller ones would be easier to buy....

Easier to transfer
Easier to package/bag
Less stress of it being way to big for the tank/other corals

I got one that was maybe 6" across the oral disc which is now over 10" and it was a real PITA when I transferred it to the new tank cause it trampled everything!

All my other ones were about 2-3" and they all faired quite well and was much easier to move and place in the tank. The little ones also eat less too and in turn poop less.

i have had mine in my 180 for about 4 to 6 months now and it has already splitand i came home from the fire house this morning and found another piece about the size of a quarter that had come off the new clone.i would have thought the origonal would have split again first but i was wrong.either way i now have 3 RBTA's.
