I was coming home from my boat and decided to buy a new car on my way home. We didn't realize they were having labor Day sales so the place was mobbed. I was hoping to see Sam in there but he probably can't afford a new car, being he wears a ratty cowboy hat. But now with a new car, I can look for him easier.
I was going to hold out for a trio of barnacle blennies but just grabbed one of the eyebrow barnacle blennies they had on DD a few weeks ago. Cute little fish, lots of personality. He likes to watch me as I check out the tank to see what's going on. Totally ignoring the barnacles but found a nice spot in the rock with lots of holes & tunnels so he is happy.
nope, not a sign of him anywhere. nor have i seen sam elliott.
i'm gonna wait till after MA '14 and then i think i might order 3 barnacle blennies. i have a small barnacle i can put in the tank but i also have lots of crevices and hiding places.
i'm bummed he has never reappeared, he was doing so well in qt and he was a truly beautiful fish!
Maybe it just wasn't meant to be, Nina.
I'm not a big wrasse in a reef setting myself, although I'd love to have another big tank just for the fish I don't want in the reef, including wrasses.
The last one I had was stunning beautiful, but needed a different setting.
How's the flatworm decimating going?
my other 2 wrasses are doing so well, i expected this one to do the same but yeah, guess it wasn't meant to be. i have seriously looked everywhere except taking all of the rocks out of my fuge, like i told you. might do that this weekend just to be 100% sure. if he isn't there, the only other place he could possibly be is buried in the sand. wonder if my cuc would find him there?
i've been siphoning flatworms every time i do a water change. i don't notice as many so either i'm making a dent in them or they are just dwindling away.
He was in hiding for 11 days. Still on the lookout for the other one that's missing, but since they were doing so well in qt I think he'll turn up too.
At this point I would assume the worst, keep an eye on water parameters and, with sadness, move on. If it decides to show up one day, that would be a nice miraculous surprise. Its really sad when things like this happen. Sorry your wrasse hasn't come out...yet.
Edit: that said I would still not go looking for him or try and change aquascape. You don't want to injure him should he be hiding.
