I have had a pair of pink skunks and a pair of ocels for a year now. At first, the o's chased the skunks. After a couple of days they went to opposite ends of my 112. Now, the o's get ran off occasionally by the skunks if they get too close to the skunks' end. I have 4 rbtas. My skunks hang in the largest rbta whilst the o's each have their own rbta on the opposite end. None have spawned, so that could amp things up if that ever happens, but both pairs generally mind their own business and hang in their own nems. I would never haved mixed pairs except a year ago I really wanted some clowns that I knew would host an rbta quickly, so I got the skunks and they went right in. 6 months ago, after having them for a year already, my o's discovered they like nems, too. Seems to me that btas or other nems may be the deciding factor. Lack of nems may produce more agression, but giving multiple clowns ample host options seems to settle 'em down.
