How many radion

Common recommendation (other than the one you have for 4 units?) would be for 2 if in combination with four T5's. If SPS heavy (or solely SPS), some might recommend 4 total XR30 units if not in combination with T5s.

I have the same tank tank and am running 2 gen 3’s and 4 t5 bulbs and am growing softies, pls, and sps with no problem.

If you were not keeping the t5s you would need 4 for best results certainly. Fortunately you still have the T5 lights on it.

Did you have 2 or 3 metal halides on the tank? If I was forced to give up my MH I would at least start with the same number of the Radions if I had to get them.

I think you're better off with 4 of the XR15s compared to 2 XR30s. That way you can space them out a little for better coverage. Then you can easily add more if needed.

Visiting a few of successful coral farming operations. One for every 18" to 24" width across is more then ample especially being as you are keeping the T5s will help to aid shadowing.

I am keeping the t5. I have 2 mh on it now

Get some recommendations from folks who keep what you keep. The recommendations on the other board are right on the money - at least 2 per MH. People who tell you otherwise aren't keeping what you are keeping, have not seen what 250W MH can do or think that frags and colonies have the same requirements for shadowing and coverage.

I had 3 400 watt Radium MH and 2 T5 supplements on my 210 and had a mixed tank but heavier on the Acros and other sps. I replaced them with 3 Hydra 52s didnt notice any difference except for no more heat issues and smaller electricity bills.

For SPS only, I'd stick with the metal halides. When I ran Radions for a year, I had a ton of shadowing problems and not nearly the same growth. With the halides I didn't have shadowing and I had better SPS growth and more natural coral colors.

If you do go Radions I would suggest at least 3 xr30

He's planning to suppliment with 4 T5's, he will def not have shadowing issues. 2 will be plenty with the T5's

I am currently running radions over a 96" long tank. I'm using three Gen4 30 Pros and one 15 Pro. Had I to do it again, I would have gone with all 15's - the point made earlier! The issue with these is shading as SPS colonies grow. Initially I'd suggest a single 30 is a good drop in replacement for a 250 MH, though over time a second may be required. I don't run T5 but I do run a bunch of Kessil spots as additions to the Radions.
