How much does this clam worth?

I saw my LFS have a huge clam for sale. Im not sure what kind but i say it either a gigas or a squamosa. The shell itself is at least 13" long I know for sure. The guy told me they growed it from a small clam for 7 years.
Color is nothing unsual though just regular yellowish.

They were asking 500$ for it. Do you guys think it worth it?

it totally depends on the overall health of the clam.

condition of the mantle, " " the shell, coloration...

and a positive species ID would be helpful

the clam is super healthy that for sure, color is just regular yellowish, it not blue or green or anything special.

if its not something youd be excited over... i wouldnt do it. and a giant clam might cramp up a 90G a little too much for my taste...

i normally ask myself if i would be excited about spending a certain amount of money before i buy something.

$500 is an awful lot for something that you think is just ordinary.

i would pass.

another thing to think about is that since they have had it for seven years... i beat that the foot is connected and is easy to damage. i would pass just for that reason

If it's just ordinary, I wouldn't pay that much. I don't know if I would pay that much for any clam. I would rather get a few really nice maxima's or something else you really like. JMO.

It also depends what type. If it's a squamosa, it's definetly not worth $500. My LFS can't get $75 for one, and they've probably had 2-3 in that were at least 10 inches if not a foot across. If it were a gigas, still probably not worth $500 if you don't see anything special about it.

A clam that size will not be attached. gigas, derasa and squamosa usually will not attached once they grow large enough
