How often do you see your Nassarius Snail ?

Hi I purchased two Nassarius Snailat the local LFS. Put them in my tank.....they borrowed into the sand...and I have not seen them since.

Could it be that they are just so happy eating detrius in the sand bed that they do notneed to come out at all ?

At the LFS, when food was introduced they boiled out of the sand...when I feed myssis to my Sun coral...I do not see these snails any where...

I am worried they have gone and died some where....

Mine pop out when i feed, then at night time again. They are scavangers and most likely not bother going after myssis so thats why you dont see them. drop a pellet in and they will come running though

I've had a Super Tongan nassarius for a year now.

If I see it, I look for all my fish to figure out if something died. It rarely comes out otherwise. Sometimes goes weeks at a time without seeing it.

My Super Tongan Nassarius come out at night or when I fed heavy.

Mine always come out whether I feed my frozen marine cuisine or pellet food. Have had them for several months now.

Mine come out whenever I drop in a freeze dried shrimp. I actually roll them between my fingers to create a shrimp dust and sprinkle in so the kids can watch them come flying out of the sand... its kind of cool actually.

I drop algae wafers in and the nassarius snails smell it and fight over it with a pile of red leg hermits. Pretty fun to watch. The emerald crab usually breaks up the party when he steals the wafer.

I just added 100 to my tank and they swarm as soon as food hits the water..

When feeding and at night. You need more then 2.

those aren't nassarius, those are Illyanassa obsoleta.
