how to catch mini carpets?

Try taking the rock out and suspending it over a bucket of saltwater. Tap the rock with a hammer. Between the lack of water and vibrations from the hammer, they should let go and drop into the bucket.

Either that, or chisel off the piece of the rock they're on.

I've never had much luck prying these guys off.

You serious? Why do I feel a candid camera moment coming on

I've never had to move a mini carpet, but some people suggest using an ice cube in a plastic baggie on the foot of BTA. It may work on a mini carpet as well.

I think you'll have to go with the chisel. Their foot is so small and they always seem to stick it in the smallest hole (something about that statement doesn't sound right) :D making the ice cube trick near impossible.

Mark, use your fingernail. Works best for me. If that doesnt work I will use a flat head screwdriver. Don't be shy with it, they are extremely resilient. Especially their foot. I have damaged them to the point that half the foot was left behind on the rock and had them make full recovery in just about a week.

this works.

At the very least- it will make the dangling anemones much easier to pry off with a flathead screwdriver.

FWIW, I took the rock out, held it over a bucket, gave it three taps and said "F" it and smashed the rock.

The minnies are one pieces of rubble in my frag tank.
