How to make Swiss Cheese - Krunchy's 275g Closed Loop monster!

O M G

sooooo much plumping! :D

Looks really awesome!!!

i can´t wait to see the tank filled and running! ;)

Flo

Thank you for the compliments! It will be online very shortly. (Hopefully tonight!)

Looking great, like a PVC Dr. Octagon back there! Can't wait to see it finished. Remind me again what you are using for panels to cover the stand? Some lightweight aluminum panels attached with cabinet door magnets (for easy removal and access) would look really cool.

I'm actually using wooden panels with 4 doors on each and magnets to hold them in place. I like the aluminum stuff as well but they wouldn't match anything in my house. :(

Looks awesome man, well done!

I feel like an ace whole :o

I'm totally just giving you crap man. I couldn't resist. It's an honest mistake and yeah, Nick had something different in there that was either the right size or he just got lucky! Based on the amount of silicone that was on the back of the tank around where those bulkheads sat, I don't think he was that lucky! :lol2:

Even reffering back to pics in the begining of the thread you can see Nick had used some seemingly SCH40 bulks with the jacuzzi fittings in them, and I had SCH40s installed while cleaning out the tank, however as you know I never got around to plumbing anything. It must have been the weight of the plumbing... wish that info regarding hole size was passed on to me when I bought it so I coulda done the same to you bro! Ah well... you like the plumbing better now don't ya :lolspin:

The irony of it all is that the back part would have had to have come off anyway. The OM on the back didn't quite clear the way it was before and I wasn't 100% comfortable. I went back in with the same design and just compensated. Not to mention that now everything is done with threaded bulkheads so if I absolutely had to remove / repair one, it's possible without cutting out pipe and rebuilding things. :D

Seriously so excited that this is coming together so nicely! Sump looks great esepcially with that beast of a BK chillin' in there!

I'm actually about to move that thing into the front chamber. I didn't really snap to the fact that I had it in the wrong chamber. Also, there's a bubble barricade in front of the return pump and although that's great and all, it leaves very little tolerance for a lower water level so the slightest drop off or ATO failure and my system will run dry in seconds with that Barracuda on it. I'm about to go dremel out one of those baffles so that the water level on that side can drop almost all the way down without my pump running dry!

Whatever the case, get your tail end over to Chicago and let's go get a  !!! On the drive in, stop at mcliffy's and grab me some nice SPS frags out that gorgeous reef tank. :D

Will do man! I'm actually in Chi-town every couple months at least either for work, or for grabbing  with friends that live there...

You'll have to kick me out as I won't want to leave your place without my tank

Been there done that ;)

Mike's tank is the shizzle bomb bizzle! I saw it last year about this time when I was in Chicago for a trade show, so it was considerably younger, but still absolutely amazing. Can't wait to see it again, and yes, I'll have to jack some frags for ya! You need to get your tail up there to see that beast soon and pick your frags WYSIWYG :D

Plumbing is done, now i'm just filling it up and leak testing everything! Both OMs are online and running, the drains and returns are plumbed, all that's left is to fill it with water and fire the barracuda up!

Here's the cuda with the return line plumbed up.

Drains are done, i'll come back and put a proper cap and such on those tee's shortly. Just have to see how well the water flows and how loud they are first.

The water is cloudy because I just dumped in some hyper salinity water to bring the tank salinity up some.

Looks great Ed!!! I'll have to check it out in person again tomorrow!

Looks like I may have to take you up on that offer to borrow your Barracuda. Mine is apparently toast. It spins and pumps water but it's REALLY loud and I can't run it. :(

You can borrow it, but you have to clean it first :lolspin:

For all those that have asked, here are some pictures of the stand assembled and ready to go! These are crappy because I took them in the middle of the night and had to over compensate with the flash, but you'll get the idea!

Beautiful set up. I noticed you didn't put anything in between the pumps and the wood that could get pretty loud in the living room..
Watch out for the reflection when taking late night pics or after way to much plumbing,,lmao.. That glue bad.. I hat eit If someone comes out with a less toxic smelling glue it's gonna sell fast..

Looks great! I love the dimensions and the stand. I admire your plumbing skills since I suck at that part of this hobby.

Is your wife in the hobby too? I think you mentioned she was earlier in the thread. That's cool if she is. My husband likes it but it's my hobby really. He does help out with projects when I ask him to, like plumbing for instance. He likes the tank too.

I think I noticed your dog's ear in some of the pics lol. Feel free to post more pics of the whole dog. He/she is adorable.

Thanks for the reminder. I need to go get something to put between those pumps and the wood and stop some vibration noise.

And yes, too much PVC glue will definitely have you doing some funny stuff. :lolspin:

Yes she is in the hobby. She's into corals more than me actually. We'll be building out her new tank next! I actually met her at a reefing conference. :D

The dog is hers as well. His name is Murphy and he's a Boston. Cute, isn't he? I'm sure you'll be seeing him in more of the pictures. ;)

Just a quick update from yesterday. The T5 retro kit is coming into place but I was out of cable staples and didn't want to finish it without securing my wiring. :) Here are some photos of my progress ...
