If you buy these old new stock off Ebay, there's two things you should do right away: replace the battery and update the firmware. This will be a guide for doing so.

You get a somewhat beat-up looking box

This is what your $35 US +shipping gets you: Fixture, power supply, manual, hanging hooks.

These are supplies needed for stage 1: battery change. T10 torx bit, 3mm allen key, cr2025 battery. I'm using cr2032 because that's what I have on hand. cr2016 would likely work as well but I didn't check that.

Remove one of either end caps with the torx bit.

remove the back panel with the 3mm allen key

These are not cheaply made. No resemblance to a black box which would likely be more expensive.

use the hockey stick end of the allen key to push the old battery out of the holder.

Stage 2, firmware update. This assumes you have acquired the required files and extracted them to a location on your computer. This also assumes you have direct connected to a single fixture via wifi (all others unplugged). Default network name is "Euronet".

You need to do this for each fixture you have, one by one with all other unplugged. Type 10.0.0.10/rescue.html in your browser and you will be presented with this page. Notice Main is v1.4.0 and data is v0.5. Click the browse button.

An explorer window will pop up so you can navigate to where you saved and extracted your files. Choose the firmware file.
2.png

click "start update"
2a.png

a progress bar will appear
2b.png

when complete, click "apply update"
5.png

the fixture will reboot (you can hear the fan turn on briefly). After about 30 seconds refresh the browser page. Notice Main is now v2.0.0 If you cannot reconnect, make sure your connected device has reconnected to Euronet and not your other home network.

Again click browse and this time select the web_ui file. Click Start Update.
7.png

Another progress bar will appear. This is a bigger file so takes a bit longer. When it finishes you DO NOT have to push the "apply update" button, even though it is there.
8.png

You will see that data is now v2.0

You are now ready to use the new interface. Go to 10.0.0.10 in your browser and start playing around, it's not that hard. The default login is Admin123. Enjoy.

Battery replacement and updating firmware was extremely easy for even a non-tech person like me. Thanks again for the instructions Sean.

I’ve decided I like the 15k look and just have to figure out how to program this. I like a 12 hour day. Current lighting (MH) runs from 9:00am to 9:00pm.

So far, I love these lights. Much kudos the @kharmaguru for finding these, sharing and helping with this tutorial.

Been fiddling with these all afternoon with Sean’s help. Finally, I think I got them where I want them. But, I’ve got intensity low for an adjustment period.

Plus, it’s in the ramp down phase.

NO MORE MH??????
I'll likely keep my MH as backups in case something goes wrong with the LEDs. While 175w bulbs are fairly easy to find, the ballasts are getting very difficult to source, especially 175w. It seems the only hobby related ballasts in 175w available are the Reef Brites in 150/175-250 watt. But, those are ~$220 each. Other 175 ballasts (like Work Horse) seem to have been discontinued.

Okay, weird issue. I have the lights plugged into outlets 1 & 2 of the Apex. Tonight when I got home, the lights were not on but, the blue power lights on the unit were illuminated. I asked Mrs griss (she works from home) if the tank lights had been off all day. She said she really didn't go in the basement (where the tank is) so, she wasn't sure. I powered the Apex outlets off/back on using the Fusion app and the lights immediately came on? Is there a known issue using these lights with Apex?

I’m not aware of an issue, but I’m curious if the Apex “timer” is messing with the lights internal “timer” (kinda like the light is reading a power outage)?

With that said, it appears (higher end lights anyway) should not be plugged into the EB832 energy bar. Not sure if it applies to the older EB4 and EB8s

Interesting. The outlets the lights are plugged into are set to on, but who knows. I’ll see what happens tomorrow, if they don’t come on again, I’ll move them over to a wall outlet.

All that post says is these types of things are controlled through other methods and if you plug it into an energy bar to program the outlet to always on. The high end lights need the fans to run though they make no light when turned off through the control interface. Turning the power port off kills the fans so the lights cant kool down properly.

It's all common sene stuff.

Make sure you hear the fan running. If a fan fails, a system can get hot very
quickly and the self protection will kick in.
If the fan does not power up, it may need to be replaced

Repowering it would reset the thermal safety.

The fans should run when powered for 1 second.
