please do not corner him for a discount:p lets be grown up about it
I've never asked Steve for a discount. If Steve gives me a discount, I thank him for it. If he doesn't give me a discount, I still thank him for helping me out. Steve will confirm this if you ask him. He knows how I feel about nickle-and-dimers....I can't stand them, so I don't do it myself.

I feel for him, though. I stop by sometimes and some fool is haggling with him over the price of a few $3 fish. Sometimes, I just want to tell some people to go find another hobby.

not you chipmonk, im talking about people who will mention us and will want a discount in return

i never asked either

I never said you were. My post was really in response to entice59's, but it's all good.

The pic really doesn't do the brain justice. If you saw it in person, you would understand what badpacket meant by, "You weren't the guy who got the tye-died color brain, were you? That was one of the most awesome pieces I've ever seen in my short time in the hobby."

I'll try to post a better pic of it. Hmmm, I wonder if my digicam batteries still have any charge left in them...

They told you those Rose Anemone from East African??? You really think it is? What a joke to me:lol: I've bought the same Rose from Great Bay which is very near them and I know it's from somewhere else they you can never believe.

Where are they originally from?

And why would I never believe it?

Unless you say, "Monterey Bay," I find it doubtful that I will be incredibly incredulous. Was that proper grammar I just used?

i heard they did come from east africa, the reason why they cost so much is because its the only place in the world where you can collect them and you are only permitted to collect a small number for an expensive price. Thats what someone told me.

Guys, believe what you believe. TP is not the only store that sell those Rose BTA's. I've saw excatly the same species in Aquarium Gallary at Milpitas, 6th Ave at SF, everything fishie in Oakland & Great Bay too.
I've asked where those rose from and they told me it's from a wholesaler in Bat Area but not TP! I've heard that new Rose shippments is coming tomorrow at Great Bay and they'll sell it cheap, I'm going to stop by tomorrow and get one and guys, why don't you join me to checkout those so called "Arican Rose BTA" tomorrow?

Jeff,

So what you're saying is that they are not East African Roses because where it originates from is NOT what you should call them, but rather proper way to describe the anemones origin is the location of the wholesaler.

So to be technically correct from your description, these are Hayward BTAs.

Think about it, to get an order transhipped you need to commit to a certain number. They are not going to just ship 1 or 2 anemones in. So what do you do? You place an order for as many as you think you can sell, and unlike Walt Smith, you do not only give an exclusive to one LFS in the area.

the roses at great bay are the same as tp, I have one from great bay due to the better pricing at great bay, but they were from the same wholsaler...if you know where they originated from...then...please enlighten us!

I'm a little confused  When is a Rose NOT a Rose? East African, Hayward, Monterey Bay.... I think I got lost somewhere in the depths of the great blue sea.

What are you all talking about?

Noone here ever said TP was the only place to get these anemones.

I'm still waiting to get womped upside the head with some earth shattering info that's supposed to leave me flabbergasted.

Funny how he can't even answer where they are from.

Wait a second, I think I understand his confusion. He thinks they are from an East Bay wholesaler. Hmmm, I wonder where the wholesaler got them from? And how I'm not going to believe my ears when I hear this "secret."

Oh I know, the wholesaler is replicating them with technology borrowed from Captain Picard.

IMO, I would think, If youââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢re in the market for a RBTA you should go for the ââ"šÂ¬Ã…"œhealthiest specimenââ"šÂ¬Ã‚ you could find for your allotted budget.
Does it really matter where it came from? I personally know that a tank raised split would be first choice, but other than that, does it really matter? Is a East African Rose any less desirable?

Yes, I also noticed all the LFS has Rose Anemones available. I wanted to get one at 6th Ave. because I heard the price was cheapest there with Great Bay being the second cheapest. 6th Ave. was sold out so I ended up getting one at Great Bay.

I was amazed and wanted to know why all the LFS had them so I asked and was told me that Dale, who previously owned Great Bay but now does wholesale, brought in a huge shipment and TP bought 400+ of them.

TP got them at the best price because of quantity but 6th Ave. sells them the cheapest.

Hope this clarifies all the rumors for everyone interested. I wasn't able to find out where these Roses originate from but it's definitely not shipped in by TP, it was brought in by a local wholesaler.

If anyone ever shopped at Great Bay while Dale was still the owner, they can ask him or even ask Eddy directly. This is really no big secret, I have seen Eddy leave Great Bay before with boxes of corals.

There are at least 3 different strains going around our area right now. Try to see them all before you decide on which one you like.-Jim
