The poor fish,a 3cm TL juv.,was considered a maroon and attempted to get mated with a medium maroon female, suffering some wounds in the process.
I thought it was a tomato X maroon hybrid, and brought it home hoping to mate it with my large such hybrid female.
But then I realized it was something different.I thought about a "cocoa"(ocellarisX biaculeatus),but it didn´t match with the pics of them I once took from an ORA show tank. And maroons just can´t hybridize with ocellaris/percula because they don´t share the same anemones in the wild.
So I don´t know what it is,and I don´t think how to find out.Someday a DNA screening will solve these mysteries, but so far it has not been done even with alleged hybrid forms like leukos or thielli.
One of the parents is for sure a member of the ocellaris/biaculeatus kin.The other is uncertain.
Though the very big pelvic fins and the rear slanted white bar reminds me of clarkii.
Just a guess, but clarkii hosts in all symbiotic anemones and occupies a very large range.

Luis,

I fixed the image link, please make sure it is working as you intended :)

Edit.....apparently you were editing it at the same time :D

Could you post a new pic of the "thiellei"?? It doesn't show up on the page any more. I also have what has been identified as a "thiellei". I'm curious to see if there is any resemblances.

Luis,

ORA has never produced a "Cocoa" ( GSMxOCL). So you couldn't have seen them in there tanks at a show.

And the black tips on the pelvic do seem clarkiish. Maybe Bicinctus?

Seems it was erased from the post.Do they do that with old posts?Should we ask RC staff?
I will try to find it and post it again.Or else take a new pic.:)

I'm 110% positive.
Its most likely from that other company that no longer produces ornamentals.

I don't even recognise the "platex" seaweed and anemone in that pic. You would not find that in an ORA display.

The post is fine, the link to the picture is off RC, so we could not have deleted it even if we wanted to ;>)

Forgive my ignorance on these matters,I assumed old pics were being deleted to save space,as it happened in two of my old threads.I´m glad you are not,as some old pics can be useful or important. So pics linked to the RC library will be safe!

All is well my friend.

As an FYI:

There is a potential impact when we upgrade software, as far as I know, one such upgrade broke prior picture links many years ago. I believe your gallery is a safe bet for now.

Cheers :)

Nice looking fish, do you still have him? That is a A. Thiellei or close:)

thiellei for sure, but with a midbar. She´s growing fine, living with a small perideraion, but not really close to him.

Now about 5cm (2")TL.
It is probably the only midstriped one.
Others show pieces of the mid-dorsal stripe.

Mine is still a juvi at maybe an inch or so & has no center stripe or a hint of one at all. There's a pic in my gallery if you want to compare.
