Hypersalinity in aquaria.

Dear people

I ve heard a story about a public aquarium that keeps the salinity levels at 1.040 and all fish are thriving...
I am talking about proffesional people that have a lot of experience and i have to ask.
Has anyone done any experiments about keeping saltwater fish at this salinity levels?
Corals bleach with hyposalinity almost instant, but what happens with hypersalinity.Fishes seem to aclimize better but is this possible?

Best regards
Alex.

not sure if i have a direct answer to ur question but my 15+ yrs of experience tells me that when we take nature out of its comfort zone and create an artificial environment life usually dont sustain properly and develop problems and soon later causes fatality.

Some parts of the Red Sea run very high in salinity. 1.040 SG seems rather high, but 40 ppt might be accurate, in PSU. Do you have a pointer for the aquarium?
