Wanna be a reefkeeper
that's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll have to get a different one that covers the range needed.
The white spot stage usually lasts about 7 to 10 days. The hypo doesn't speed that stage up.
there is something I dont understand. If hypo kills ich in the fish, why would not kill it in the rock?......why cant you do hypo w rocks? and why change the media ?, doesnt hyposalinity kills ich period? I would be concerned about amonia killing the fish.
I am not an expert and I dont have alot of experiance so dont get me wrong. I just dont understand and hope to get some answers..
hypo will also kill many of the goodies in the rock - kind of like throwing the baby out w/ the bathwater![]()
So hypo will kill all the bacteria in the rocks?
I think it could kill some of it but not all , and probably you could still enjoy some of the benefits.
my statement does not=your statement. how does 'kill many of the goodies' = 'kill all the bacteria' ?
(i do think it will impact greatly on the bacterial fauna on/in the rock-but i don't know for sure, btw)
any more words anyone cares to put in my mouth?![]()

There are typically lots of sponge, boring worms, and other assorted critters living inside of live rock. That is the stuff that will die in hypo, and what Vitz is trying to point out![]()

Thanks , that makes sense.
In my case the live rock in my qt tank was dry rock that I cycled few months ago.
would it make any difference leaving or taking out the rock for hypo tx.?
I don't think there is anything but bacteria in these rocks. I have only qt 2 or 3 fish in there.
Sorry for not being clear from the beginning and thank you for your answers.
