I overdid it with amphipods

Did you have a thread of what you found in the tide pools a few years ago? I remember somebody who found clowns and emporer angels and all kinds of stuff but cannot remember who it was haha.

I probably have a thread on it, I don't remember. But I collect pipefish, amphipods, puffers, snails, grass shrimp. amphipods, butterflies, eels, puffers, etc.

OK, I did it again. I wasn't going to collect so much but I can't help myself so I collected another couple of thousand amphipods, snails and mud and threw it into my tank. It looked like a swarm of weirdo's going into a Lady GaGa concert. They are all over the place. I also may remove some snails as there really are to many. I want every rock in my tank to be loaded with amphipods and I think I accomplished that. I am going back tomorrow with my Grand Daughter, Greta because I want to teach her about fiddler crabs, horseshoe crabs, shrimps, worms etc. She doesn't yet get the concept that there are so many different types of creatures in the sea, but she names them all Greta.

Ok...I'm new and out west...never even DREAMED I could pluck anything local from out of our puget sound....does anyone know if we can find amphipods in our colder waters?? Would LOVE to be able to not go through my LFS for pods...just too expensive.

Thx
GS

The last batch I sent to Bob Goemans in Arizona got there safely but he called to thank me for the boiled shrimp

paul I still can't find the pods! I have been to several beaches and salt marshes here in RI and NOTHING! The local bay where I have done most of my searching is brackish near the shore, could that be the issue?? I have been lifting small stones at low tide and swishing clumps of seaweed that washed ashore and no pods....what the heck am I doing wrong?? Today I collected mumychogs, hermit crabs, perywinkel snails, and one green shore crab and threw them in my sump. I also cot a big ball of cheto,at least it looks just like cheato...ever see that stuff?

almost forgot,,I also got about 50 grass shrimp last week at the bay and threw them in the sump , they seem to love it in my tank! ever collect them?

Flat pieces of wood have the most pods under them. I don't know, maybe there are no pods in RI. Even if you lift large rocks or wood you don't find anything? I am surprised. They are all over the place here

there is almost no wood on the shore here, just round smooth stones and seaweed. how deep of water do you hunt them in? hi or low tide?

Here is a video.
The round stones are the problem, they live in porous things like wood, broken cement and asphalt.
