Anyone using a Sicce 2500 on any of these?
What size body and how is your pump performing?
I got my Small last Friday and the pump yesterday. I bought the recirc Aquabee 2000/1 from Petorama and modded it per John's instructions, mostly. Instead of sanding the pump output enough to fit into the flared inlet pipe I attached the pump to the skimmer using 1"ID vinyl tubing. 2" of tubing in a glass of really hot water softens it up enough to slip it over both the skimmer inlet and the pump output. I do not feel comfortable enough freehand sanding with a Dremel to keep the output completely round. I was afraid I would create some flat spots that may impact the pumps performance.

I'm going to put it into some water tonight to start breaking it in. Some already made water change water and some added skimmer shmutz should get things going.:p

Anybody tried the new ehiem needlewheel?

What eheim needlewheel are you reffering to? I am also currently looking for a needle wheel for my 1262 eheim... Any ideas ???
Cant get a response in the Deltec forum...

I am still trying to find out info about the new Tunze skimmer pumps...

That looks really nice Chris! I'm glad they kept the cone to the same basic shape as mine. The bubble action on it is awesome. Let us know how it works for you.

Looks just like mine. I have it breaking in and it looks like it will exceed my expectations. My only complaint is the air silencer set up. John's concept is interesting but it is hardly quiet. I will be rigging up my own silencer when I am ready to put this in my sump.

Hey lpsluver,

I am finally getting my small skimmer this week. On the Aquabee mod, did you have to add a venturi as well? Did it come from Petorama with a venturi?

P.S. - Go Huskers! I am an Alumnus and season ticket holder

Karsco,

You need to by the recirc model of the AB and then do some pretty simple mods to make it work.. You wind up cutting of the unions and doing some sanding with a dremel. pretty easy...

go Big Red! I was at the Gator Bowl this year. It was fantastic!

Lps,

Thanks for the reply, I plan on heading to Blacksburg this fall for my one away game of the year. So how is your skimmer working out so far?

I had posted earlier, but it must not have uploaded or something. The pics of the 100 look even better than I hoped. Mine gets here sometime tomorrow, and I can't wait. What is the nylon screw on the T of the outlet for? Wedge pipe stop?

Thanks,
Chris

Yeah thats what it looks like to me anyways. Yeah this thing is built like a tank. I think this skimmer could withstand a missle strike!

It's pulling crud out of clean, water change water so I can't wait to see what it will do in my tank.. I am putting it in tonight. I'll keep you updated.

omg, noise is going to make me second guess getting an I-Tech. my tank is designed to be extremely quiet so i can't have a skimmer that makes lots of noise 24x7 especially if the tank is next to my bed room.

can you comment on the noise issue? how bad is it? anyone else feel the skimmer is not quiet?

oh btw, post pics of your skimmer working :)

If it's air-draw noise, it's easily managed with a DIY silencer. Pump noise is a different issue and dependent upon the pump you choose to run with the skimmer.

Chris

Base on my conversation with John, the large I am planning to order will have 2 Sicce. I have no personal experience with Sicce, is this particular pump quiet?

No worries dzhuo,
John has just re-designed the air silencer and the unit is very quiet now. He was testing a dual Sicce large and everything seemed to be working extremely well.

I got one of the first-- a medium w/ single Sicce (see first few pages of post for pics & such). The Siccce is quiet but, the unit did make air noise. His new air silencer solves that.

Nice! :) I am going to have to ask John about that when I am ready to order.
