I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Hopefully Mojo will chime in as he's tried just about every skimmer there is.

I can only compare the iTech to the ATB 840, ETSS ReefDevil deluxe and a few different hand made needlewheels I've had. So far, the cone skimmers have been much better for my setup. The lack of turbulence in the skimming chamber and the steady progression up the neck give a much "smoother" foam head and I believe this contributes greatly to production. Just my .02 :)

Awesome thank you for your response :)

I am very interested in buying one of these Itecs, the only skimmers I have ever owned have been ASM and Aqua Euro USA skimmers, and while they did their jobs I was never "Wowed" by the skimmers.
I also have my eye on a Euro reef Skimmer, I'm tired of jumping from skimmer to Skimmer brand I don't have have the money to keep that up, So when I buy another Skimmer I want it to be my last.
I would like to ask you reefers who have had other skimmers in the past how would you say these Itecs stack up?
To a euro reef or other top name brand? do they blow their performance out of the sump or do they just do their jobs as well as the Euro reefs or Deltecs ASM ,ect? I keep hearing Cone skimmers are the future of skimmers but I have never seen a side by side compression..
Thank you for any help you can give me :)

I replaced a Euro-reef 135 with an i-tech 100 and it is night and day. I get so much more skimmate with the i-tech. I would highly recommend going with a cone with a bubble plate.

My iTech 100 was up and running 3min on a newly setup 45gal nano tank. Already building a head of foam. With the cabinet door closed you cannot hear the Tunze Hydrofoamer, at least not over the water in the overflow drain line. Chew on that for a second... the water normally flowing through the drain line, the very silent bubbling/gurglilng what ever you want to call it - that is louder than the iTech 100. WOW! I am very impressed and my friend is ordering one now, he's an ASM G2 guy.

I was lucky enough to get in on the 100 promo a while back, and I can say that it is the nicest skimmer I have owned. I've had a EuroReef CS 6-2, a reef octopus Extreme 160, and the Itech, and the Itech betters each of them in performance, and build quality. The later of which really says something as the ER CS6-2 was one of the old-school all welded super-burly deals.

I'm running the Aquabee pump on mine, and it works great. It is usually pretty quiet. I can hear it, but only if I open the door to the stand and everything else in the room is dead quiet. Had I not got a sweet deal on the Aquabee through a fellow reefer, I would have held out for the Tunze.

The customer service is on par with the best experiences I've had with Roger at Tunze, and that says a lot! John and Chris do a great job of taking care of their customers and making a great product at a fair price.

Hello everyone,

I'm in the process of purchasing a skimmer and I would appreciate some input. I'm setting up a 75 gallon sps tank and I am wondering if I should get the itech 100 or 200? If it matters...eventually I will be dosing some kind of carbon.

Thanks,
Roland

The 100 would work fine. I had my 200 under my 75 because I knew I was upgrading. The 200 handles my 225 tank just fine.

Ok, mine is in the sump and running. How long should it take to break in and make skimmate? And how high should I keep the bubbles within the skimmer? I have it right to the first grey ring, is that right?

My 200 started producing skimmate in the first hour. I learned to make very small adjustments and wait several hours before tinkering around with it again. Mine has taken about a month to produce the dark chunky stuff consistently. Initially I have the bubbles breaking or foaming in the neck of the cup, and it will then shortly start foaming over into the cup.

I just received my skimmer..it looks awesome. I can't wait to get it setup next week. One question...the collection cup fits really tight the neck..I have to really push down on it to make it fit. Is that normal?

thanks

Yea, you have to push down pretty hard to get the neck into the O ring. It will get easier after a few times of doing it.

My I-Tech Super Beast is still going strong . I-Tech skimmers are the best skimmers on the market IMO . The only thing I do is clean the collection cup , and empty the skimate collection bucket . I never have to adjust anything . I love my I-Tech skimmer .

I haven't read the whole thread but does anyone know how many gallons the super beast can handle.
They designed it to handle a 600 gal heavily stocked commercial coral system.
