I-Tech Skimmer Club .

just picked on up and did just that, now my concern is, am I using the skimmer to its full potential?

Probably not - I would contact John, he should be able to help you - it's designed that way for a reason, I would imagine. What dot is the wedge pipe set to? Maybe lower that.

OZONE and the I-Tech 200

OZONE and the I-Tech 200

I ahve had my 200 for awjile and love it. I am now seriously thinking of running Ozone on my 180 and have beenr esearching.

Afew questions:

1) ANyone using their I-tech skimmer with Ozone? If so, what's yourt set up?
2) Are the materilas in the skimmer ozone resitant to breakdown? (for John)
3) Are their any attachments offered by John for integrating an Ozone system in regards to carbon media at the output for filtration of OPO byproducts?

Thanks!!

Andy

I am getting ready to do this. I know John has done this for a guy with a 400.

He is making me a custom lid to place carbon in and a new silencer with a ozone port.

Just shoot him an email!

I knew of the lid, but you need carbon on the output (liquid). That is where it is most needed if you have the proper balance of Ozone in the system. The ozone itslef in the skimmer will only exist for a few moments (1 oe 2 seconds at best) before it chemically changes.

I sent john an email and he made some recommendations. I followed all his ideas and the skimmer has been working without any problems. great skimmer.

I spoke with John about running Ozone last week. You can certainly add an attachment to your I-Tech to introduce Ozone, but the most efficient way is actually to use a reactor. He's looking into building Ozone reactors from clear PVC, but that may be a ways down the line yet.

I plan to utilize a separate reactor, whether it's one that John can build, or one I find on my own, and not to introduce through the skimmer. This would handle all issues.

Give him a call.

In the 5th picture the motor housing is not connected yet to the clear volute but you can get an idea of what is going on.

The i-Tech Askol pump has got to be the best looking pump in the hobby. I have never seen a better looking pump. I love the clear cnc job they have done to the volute.

I didn't want to post anything until it was a done deal, but the external 200 is for me :) I should have it on the 16th. I contacted John a little bit ago and asked if he had anything external in that size range. He said he could make something, it wasn't exactly a stock item. So he and his shop worked out that beauty for me. Its the first one like that I believe, and I am very grateful he was willing to go through the trouble of making it. I have to say that he is and his crew are first class all the way. The build quality looks great from the pictures I have seen, but will comment more once I get it. And I couldn't be happier with the customer service, any question I had were quickly answered. I will be sure to post pics once I get it.
