I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Well it looks like I will be joining the club. After seeing the skimmers down at FAOIS in Oldsmar I decided to go ahead and order a Model 400. I just received the shipping confirmation and it will be here on Monday. What a great early X-Mas present!!!

i'm putting together another tank and it looks like Im going with the model 100, i have model 200 on a 150 gal and with everybody complainting about start-up issues with other skimmers, i-tech with the tunze pump is the way to go.

I finally just got my i-tech 200 going.
Water level is at around 6.5" at the moment and the foam has only risen about half way up the cone. Is this normal when you turn it on for the first time?

I tested my external 200 the other day and it was great :) I will be super busy with the snow this weekend, but I will get some pictures next week once I get it hooked up.

can you put it in at 9 inches that is where mine is at.

I-Tech 400 arrived safely. Johns packaging was flawless. Now once I am finished with the plumbing to the basement I will have this baby up and skimming!!!! I can't wait!!!

Alright, I may join the club soon and I'd like to get some answers from the owners.
1. I'm a newb when it comes to skimmers, are the I-Tech's pretty easy to figure out and keep happy?
2. I'm going to have it on my 75G reef, moderately stocked, which model would you recommend?
3. How much should I be looking to spend before even walking in the door (price for the ones above)?
4. I thought I read that someone bought everything including the pump from them, so is there a pump that comes with it or do they just recommend one?
5.I'm in FL and I've got family in Tampa, from what I understand these are made by Fish and other Ichthy Things, so would visiting the store be a good idea? Other than the fact that I've heard the store is fantastic and I'd probably walk away with a bunch of corals.
Thanks guys, if I do get one and like it, I'll be buying more.

Easy to figure out. John is also very helpful if you have any questions. I have a Model 100 on my 75 and it works great. If you go to i-techskimmers.com you will find pricing for each model. They recommend Tunze pumps, the model 100 requires a custom volute which comes with the pump when you buy it. Yes these are made by FAOIS - John is a great guy to deal with and the store is top notch. You'll walk away with many good frags

Okay, that's about what I was thinking as far as price. So, I can buy the pump at the same time, that's good. Sounds really good, what about warranties? Never purchased a skimmer so I'm not sure if it's the norm or not.

The Tunze pump will have the full factory warranty. As far as the skimmer itself, not sure, but John will make sure you're taken care of.

Give them a call and discuss - that will be your best option :)

I would seriously look at the 100 model, one of John's best, IMO... I use the 100 on my 70 gallon running zeovit, and it keeps up just fine. Emmet(Emster) had a 90 gallon TOTM with the prototype 100. The 200 would be great, but not necessary.

BTW,
John made this for me around Thanksgiving time, not just skimmers:) I gave him deminsions and specs, he sent back a blueprint, the result was this... Only 1 week from design to final product... This is a benefit living less than 1 hour away... John is an awesome asset to our hobby!

Same here - 200 on a 150.
We got one of the first 200's before the Tunze was available. I will definitely be upgrading to a Tunze after the holidays.
The Sicce does a good job - but IS a real PITA to re-start after cleaning.

On the Model 400, what do you think the pros & cons would be of the 2-tunze pump version, vs the single 1500lph pump version? Are there any advantages to going with the 2-pump version?

Pros, if one breaks down you can still limp along with the other.

Cons, more watts, noise, and the pump would be fighting each other with back pressure.

I would say go with the single pump. What type of pump is it?
