I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Yep. No secret. No mass production either.

If I change my skimmer, as my tinkering self might decide to do, I'd either get an I-Tech cone or an ETSS.

Why are the prices kept so secret? They are close now and wont be open till Monday.
I don't get why people are so afraid to mention prices, its one of the important talking point of a Equipment being considered.

I don't care how good it is, if no one can afford it, then it useless.

no secrets, just some people have more info than others.the skimmers are locally made in small numbers for FAOIS.the medium with sicce motor runs around $530.if you email John(the store owner)he will respond back to you quickly and with all the info availible on sizes/pumps/prices.

Well maybe not secrets, but it seems you guys are afraid of the MODS in here. I am fairly new to this site, and so far, they seem to be doing a great job.

Its all about common sense, posting a price about a product is not a evil thing to do, its part of the decision making in deciding if a product is worth buying.

Lets get back on track, here some specs i got.

The "medium" or model 200 is powered by the stock CoralVue PSK2500 with a needle wheel impeller. Air draw is approximately 600 lph at 18 watts through a removable bubble plate. The impeller is fairly well balanced so noise is minimal but to ensure quality each unit is run of several hours prior to sale. They're ruggedly built in America from 1/8" wall acrylic tube, 3/16" clear and 3/8" PVC. All chemical and physical heat welds are professionally done. Three titanium screws allow for the units to be completely broken down. It is an internal skimmer and the sump's water level should be a constant 6"-8". Physical dimensions are 22 ¾" in height with a footprint of 11 ¼" x 8 ½". An extra 3/8" clearance is needed for collection cup removal. Cost with the Sicce is $529 plus applicable taxes and shipping.
An alternate skimmer motor should be available soon from Tunze.

Lets talk about this Skimmer, I know some of you have them already, well the prototype.
How are they doing so far?

BTW, my email was sent to John last night and he answer around midnight. Any LFS looking at email that late and answer them has my respect.

Thanks luisagos. I think I would be interested in the pump from Tunze Do you think it is the new new 9420 pump or the 9410 pump, Thanks in advance

I be honest I do not know the answer, but my guess it would be the 9420 pump, from what I understand he getting one of the first batch of the pumps, so it seems to be the new one.

I am going to visit the LFS, maybe today to get more data.

Aren't the Tunze pumps just Sicce PSK-2500s? I've never heard tell that they are anything else. Or, are they switching to something else?

Wow. . . .

No one mentioned anything about mods or being scared of them. No one wanted to state the price due to the skimmer still being in the design phase. I would assume anyone (this includes myself) that knew pricing on the skimmers did not speak up due to respect for John. He has not even released this skimmer LEFT ALONE a final price. Yes, if everyone must know you are looking at about $500+ for a medium model.

Tunze says the new pump is not a sicce, I think it is.

The old pump they sold had a soft pinwheel the new one is supposed to have a hard one.

i talked to Roger from Tunze at MACNA and he told me they are not sicces.i was told that Tunze could not make the sicce as quiet as they wanted so they desinged these new skimmer pumps from the ground up,plus they claim an almost 1 to 1 air/water ratio.

But they aren't out yet, right? No link. All Tunze skimmers being sold still show what is clearly a Sicce.

I'm not at all sure why people say the Sicces are noisy. Mine are dead silent. Other issues, perhaps. Noise? Not compared to any other skimmer pumps I've seen and used.

i had a couple of the coralvue sicces and they had machined NW's that sounded like a train wreck.they came out with a moulded NW that is more balanced and quieter.that said the modded laguna i have on my large cone makes less noise than the sicce IMO.

here is a link to the pumps i saw at MACNA,click on the DOC skimmers then click on master skimmers and scroll down the page like half way.they are deff not sicces.

I am running a I-Tech Large on my 300g. It has the Laguna 1500 motor. I just pulled some quick dimensions oon it and the height is 24" and it has a foot print of 16"x12". I have a kill a watt on the way so i will get those numbers as soon as it comes. I will also try to get my hands on a air meter too.

Here is a pic when i ran it on my 72g after 3 days and this is also after replacing a Euroreef RS250 with it.

And a pic taken tonight with it running on my 300g that has only had fish in it since yesterday. This is also about 3 days of running.

I have the same as Billy, the pics just above, and I'm thrilled with it. It's in the 300 Rubbermaid reef and I feed HEAVILY!!! The cup is filled with dark skimmate every 3 days.
I paid about $800 for mine.

I too have always considered the gallon rating for a skimmer as something that needed to be almost doubled.

Therefore, I initially bought the large and it is an absolute beast capable of effortlessly handling a few hundred gallons imho. When John specs his skimmers, he is being modest with their rating. My sump was just too small for it to have enough room to operate safely despite my modifying, errr... butchering. So, I ended up with a medium and am very satisfied.

And, I completely agree with McNeil. The large with the laguna style pump is almost completely silent. All you can here is the water moving. And, it is indeed, quiter than the Sicce on my medium. No complaints with the Sicce as it is a relatively quiet pump, the silence of the large is just difficult to believe when you see it in action.

Even , My extra large with the Dart Gold pump is very quiet . For the size , and performance of this monster , I can hardly believe how quiet it is .

I agree also. My large with the Laguna is in the 300 Rubbermaid reef about 15 feet from me and all I hear is the water gurgling out of the skimmer drain.

Lovin mine too. Just got it a couple days ago and I'm really impressed with a few things. It produced skimmate FAST although I had the level inside the skimmer too high. The skimmate was pretty wet. I like the flow coming out of the return moving the sump water vigorously. Als like the fact that there is zero microbubbles coming out of it. The way it's made so that bottom comes off so the entire cone is cleanable.
