I-Tech Skimmer Club .

Thanks Bemmerzs my 200 should be ready sometime this week I have waited a month or so I can't really remember exactly. Looking forward to receiving it.

I would let your skimmer break in just a little and then it shouldn't overflow like you are mentioning. Of course new filter socks, dosings and such will make almost any skimmer go crazy for a bit.

Emster, When you say you dont turn your pump off to clean the cup, do you just turn the riser so the water level goes down a bit? This is what I currently do. I lower the level in the skimmer to below the cup, then clean, then raise the level again.

so does mine a have been waiting for about 6 weeks

Well... I definitedly waited a lot longer than what I thought. I remember a couple batch's of cone's came in.... before I changed my mind about waiting on the tunze pump. I kinda kicked myself for changing because I wound up getting kicked bak to the end of the line eventually. I don't fault them for getting the skimmers in the hand's of folk's that knew what they wanted right off the bat. I'm still very very happy, John has excellent customer service.

Cheers,

Mine does not overflow never has. I don't turn mine off anymore even when cleaning the cup. It's going to get better and better as it get older, mine skimmed best after 2 months of use.

Finally got mine in and started up,

Had to take a lil' more time to install this lil' puppy on the right.

SHOmuchFUN, what pump are you running yours with?
DAS Aquabee 2000/1
Woke up this morning and noticed it was skimming a little wet, but it didn't lose much head while my alkalinity was dosing. I always noticed that dosing Alk. with my Tunze 9010 would kill the head. It still had a decent amount of head on the I-tech while my doser was adding the alk. Pretty sweet!

So I kicked it back a notch to see what kind've foam I can get when skimming a bit more dry.

Cheers,

Judging by the PW's you posted, your skimmer must have a sicce PSK 2500 pump? I have the same pump on my skimmer and I have modded it and tinkered a lot, and it is still a strong performer. You should enjoy it.

How is the pump connected to the skimmer?

Oh yeah Bimmerzs, I am still waiting on my purple poopoo eater (PPW). Did it come with your skimmer, or did you order it from somewhere?

I ordered a set for my old MSX250 skimmer, I'm selling that so pulled them out, one for the cone and one for a spare I guess.

How's the noise w/ the sicce pump?

John said this batch of pump's were not as quiet as he liked, I basically had to talk him into selling me the pump as he was not happy with them. It's not dead silent but it's a lot quieter than the sicce's on the old skimmer. I doubt you would be able to hear anything with the door's closed on a cabinet. I'm happy as heck already, I love how you can just slide the pump out. :D

Cheers,

I don't turn the riser at all, I just let it over flow does not hurt a thing and don't have to worry about it starting up backwards and having to mess with it. I love this 100, I really do think its the best skimmer out there right now pound for pound IMHO.

I won't doubt that at all.

Here's my medium about 24hrs after installation.

I'm really liking this, bubble size has really decreased, skimming wet right now but slowly backing it off as it breaks in more and more.

Cheers,

I can tell you I'm really unhappy with the noise from the sicce on my octo extreme 200. That's why I'm lurking here for possibly and I-Tech with a Tunze.

Any data on the noise of the new Tunze pumps?

Bob,

I can't speak for the Tunze pumped skimmers as I think only Chris at I-tech is running one. That being said, the Aquabee 2000/1 on my I-tech 100 is far more quiet than the Sicce on my Octo Extreme 160 was. It has the slightest little hum, but I think that if I put some enkamat or silicone between the pump and the bottom of my sump, it would be nearly silent. As it is now, I hear the slight trickle of water out of the exhaust over the pump noise.

Chris

Chris - thanks for the tip.

It only makes since that the tunze would be quieter, if I remember right they refused to use the sicce motor on their new pump because of noise issues.

Service at Coralvue has actually been good, just not a big fan of sicce pumps at this point. I guess if you have a fish room in your garage or something you wouldn't call them loud. When they reside in your bedroom that's a different story.

Why the heck doesn't this guy making these I-Tech skimmers improve his itchythings website to promote his skimmers?! I think his business would increase 10 fold. Maybe he needs time to increase production now that the word is out that these skimmers are sweet. I'm sure since his skimmer was published as being used on a TOTM that helped business :eek1: .

When John , started to produce these skimmers he was just trying to build a top quality skimmer , at an affordable price .
He wanted to make them for local reef keepers , and he didn't have plans , at that time to go into world wide distribution . You have to remember john also runs a LFS . He works seven days a week , and with answering emails , I would say 16 to 18 hours a day . John , and his wife are also raising a family , and as of yesterday a new member made his way into the world . John has a lot on his plate right now . I know he wants to get production up , so he can fill all the orders coming in , in a timely manor . John will never scrimp on quality to get rich . Give him time he will up date his store web site .

Ted

I give him a big "hands up", for having the time to do all that he does and still answer every question emailed. That is more than customer service, that is dedication. keep up the excellent work john.
