The itech ou ordered is way smaller than the in 180. The itech skimmer you would want would be the 200. The 100 will cycle less water and less air the the Vertex in 180. So to say it will destroy it.... I really doubt that. But it is a good skimmer to be run on a smaller system. The itech 100 only has a 6in base and will pull about 400+lph of air. The vertex in 180 pulls over 700 lph of air and has a larger body. On a smaller the system the itech would be a awise choice. anything larger than a 75 gallon reef tank I would go with the vertex. Good luck. Nice product but not really compairing apples to apples.

well im running it on a 120g setup and i see lots of ppl doing it on a similar setup so i dont see an issue. I decided to use a larger rated skimmer for the vertex as it was cheap and well I wanted to go on the side of caution since its not quite the performer compared to other higher end skimmers

its not skimmer problem as much as it is the amount of water that the skimmer can process. The skimmer is simply to small to cycle a good amount to keep up with your tank. Now it should skim very well. And never stop as I personally dont think it will be quite large enough to cycle enough water. again personally I would of stepped up to the 200. But hey what do I know? Good luck. Mojo~

I just received my 100 and the Aquabee pump. Easy skimmer to set up and install. Took me about 30 mins. Very nice stable foam.

John's customer service is so good, he gave me his cell number to call him at home if I had any questions (I had a couple and he even took the time to talk me through it while he was holding his new baby in one hand and the phone in the other - outstanding c.s.)

I'll report back once it breaks in but looking good so far. Extremely quiet.

I love this thread
what you recomend for 75 sps
thank you
The 100 would be great I'm sure. Emster, recent TOTM, runs a 100 on his 90 sps tank plus sump plus frag tank.

Are the 100's being delivered with the 9410 tunze now? Are the prices listed anywhere? I'm ready to pull the trigger on this as soon as I know I can get a tunze.

I was thinking of getting the 200 with the tunze but that's probably overkill for my 55gal + 20gal sump :D

Not yet on the Tunze. You still buy the pump separately - I'm running the AB.

Just spent at least 30 minutes on the phone with John while he explained everything about his skimmers.

I decided I'm going to pull the trigger.

+1 For excellent service
