I... uh... think a coral may have spawned?

So last night, around 9:30, I walk into my computer/aquarium room to surf the web for a bit. When you walk into the room, the first thing you see is the aquarium, looked good. Im surfing the web for maybe 5-10 minutes. I get up and turn around and stare in amazement at the aquarium. There are literally hundreds of tiny white dots, the largest being around the size of a pin head flying all through the aquarium. I freaked out a bit honestly. I didnt get any pics or video or anything. I just kind of thought, november, close to lights out, white dots everywhere.

Any ideas?

That would be an awesome site!. In fact I just finished watching a documentary on coral reefs and that was one thing they talked about was how the coral, especially staghorn reproduce even between different types, that will form a new type of coral.

So to see that in your tank would have been really something to see.

So I was checking my calcium this afternoon. Grabbed 5 mls of water, added the first reagent, then the second reagent, looked up as I was swirling, and it happened again. White dots just all of a sudden, all over the place. I managed to get a crappy video, check it out.

Honestly, this has me a little worried, because I have no idea what is going on.

My guess, not corals that spawned. Something did though...Maybe a pair of shrimp or some eggs hatched. My corals spawned before and it was a cloudy mess.

It could have been the clam as well.

It drives me crazy because Im in the room, messing around with whatever I mess around with, then turn around and BLAM, the aquarium has flipped out :p

I've seen a coral spawn like globules. But watch your nitrate/ammonia readings, and be prepared to run carbon and do a 20% water change---that is biomass soon to become defunct biomass, and it can cause a problem.

Ok, new update. Turned around after my last reply, and once again, crap everywhere.

I noticed it spewing out near my clownfish.

I investigated, and its the anemone that is spewing out these white globules.

Also, my clownfish have spawned. I saw the male fanning a small patch of orange eggs. Ill try to get some pics of both soon.

Here you can see the clutch of eggs above the nem.

If you look at the nem, you can see what looks like a female releasing eggs?

Congratulations!

man, both host anem and clown spawn at the same time.

I could not see the wavebox in the video. That is why I thought you were using neptune aquasurf to drive you tunze.

Wow! Thats very interesting...

Cool on the clown eggs, too, man.

Congrats Chuck! :D

Although, I do have to say, I would be annoyed to be your fish... too much wave action going on...

Let us know if you figure out exactly what it is.

Female GBTA spawning. Unless you have a male BTA in the tank, what you really have is a load of extra organics. Crank the skimmer, do a water change and monitor your ammonia readings.

Congrats though! :D
