i read the artical posted on dyi regarding ich. temp elevation, i did turn up the temp when i was treating with kick ich, spinich, carrots and garlic that seem to work great, however the parasite never left the tank obviously sooo. im going to go the extrem temp raise like suggested on dyi to 85 to 90. pbt my normal temp was 76. if anyone does care to know tell me and i'll post the results.

Why are you raising the temperature? The only thing that will do is speed up the lifecycle/rate of reproduction of the disease. It will not kill it. Plus, it will likely lower the dissolved oxygen content of your display.

Adjust to these params:
alk: 8.3
cal: 400
mag: 1200
nitrate: 0
ammonia: 0,
ph: 8.3
temp: 80.
None of that is treatment level, but it is coral level, and fish get along in it very well: it will ease any irritation of their skins from wandering ph, one of the stressors you can eliminate. If your cal and alk hit those levels, your ph will be stable. Withdrawing the fish for treatment in a qt tank is the best way, but short of that, and if the outbreak is very minor, improving the water quality and eliminating swings in condition are a really Good Thing for your fish. If we are talking about tangs or angels, however, quarantine is best: those two species are ich-prone. So are clowns, but they get a couple of other diseases [Brooklynosis and velvet] that can masquerade as ich. Be sure what you're treating.

Raising temperature is an old FW treatment ... not appropriate for Marine ich which is a different critter. The higher temperature will further stress the fish (lowering its immune system) while accelerating the reproductive cycle of the ich - a bad combo.

Further ... I don't agree with the other posters comments concerning water parameters .. you don't need to micro manage your water chemistry for ich ... if you don't' have ammonia and your PH is stable your probably OK. I suspect his goal is to provide a stable environment to lower stress and that a correct goal. Lowering salinity levels will reduce stress in fish ... something to consider.

Your best bet is to qt all of the fish in the tank and treat with hypo or copper ... a zillion posts on how to do that.

That is what I did no my tank. I removed all fish for 45 days from display so the ICK would die and kept the fish in low salinity. So far ICK has not resurfaced.

i read the artical posted on dyi regarding ich. temp elevation
Could you direct me to this article? I would like to read it for myself.

hi thank you for responding to my proplem. the artical was on ich at dyi is easy to find go to rc regarding disease and theypost it in blue. my water has alway's been fine except the ph was a little low till i dosed kalk wasser which was after the fact ich hit my pbt after i introduced new fish from midland mi who did not use copper in his holding tanks. the advice you gave is soo appreciated; thank all of you but i was up all night with pbt laying on his side. doing water changes, turning on an off power heads calling dr fosters. could not save im he died the following morning.

everybody talked me into putting him into the sick tank wich i had set up months before . i believe he would still be alive period..

if i did not do that .
i am not a believer of taking a fish that's sick an changing his whole world around. ive done it twice and cured them of ich and killed them of stress. i think everyone copies what they here and don't know **** bull ****ters ive seen it. everyone thinks they know it all some guy's tell me stuff and i know they don't do it them selves rip on me and pay people to take care of there tank.

it's crazy bs itters. im sorry to say i really worked hard at saving this pbt, took the wrong path and in the end it caused his death i should have left him he was never going to die this quick ive been fighting for months till i did the wrong thing. i have more experience now

very very sad and wife loved my fish lost my buddy he was so cool 9 months old. thank you for all your help i wish i read or had more response before putting him in my sick tank. thanks
