ID bleached carpet

Yea I know I will have to rid of him eventually. I might take him into the store and make him a permanent member of the display tank.

I thought I would feed him today and he ate a pretty big chunk of raw shrimp (deshelled) the pics are kinda time lapsed.. you can see it dissapear. The last pic is right after the shrimp disappeared. He almost looks bluer than when I got him.. maybe my imagination..

Is it ok that I gave him a bigger piece or should I give him smaller pieces? It was about an inch long. I didn't use the whole shrimp. I figured he hasn't had a good meal in a hot minute.

Smaller pieces every two days or so. Give him plenty of time to digest before you feed again or he will just spit out both pieces.

i have one with similar colors, are u sure its bleached? mine has those colors and its totally fine

This gig looks exactly like one that I got. I will have had mine for 2 weeks on Wednesday. So far everything seems to be progressing well except it isn't getting any color. Eating like a champ and not spitting it back out, tentacles starting to lengthen, just don't see any color coming to it. I have been cautious about blasting it with light though.

Hey guys time for an update. ive had this carpet for 2 weeks today. it is eating well. i feed it every other day with the small hikari brank mysis. i soak it in vitachem. it doesnt spit it out.

i hear they need alot of flow so i purchased A MP10wES. it came in today and i have it set on reefcrest. let me know if this flow looks right.

Tentacle extension looks good. Actually, it's looking pretty good except for the color, but it does appear to have a slight brownish gray color, so that'd good. In terms of flow, it looks fine, though gigs can handle a lot more flow. As long as it's not wiggling its tentacles, I think it should be fine. If it keeps eating, I think you're well on your way to having a healthy gig. Very happy for you.

God. Your gig looks exactly like mine !! Same color. Same bleaching, same tentacle extension. I think we have twins !! Mine has been in my care for 2 weeks yesterday. I hope we both get nice, dark healthy gigs !!

we can only hope and give them the best chance we can!

I hear that ! Mine always looks like its sucking it's thumb. Always keeps one of the folds right up to its mouth !

He is still very beautiful. I can tell your clown also really likes him. You should give him a name...or have you already? I just really think he's cool and seems to be making it. :bounce1:

Tested my water today

Nitrate < 10 ppm
nitrite and ammo : 0
SG: 1.026
all: barely 8dKH
calcium: 480-500
mag : 1250

I'm a little off but a few water changes will help
