This came as a hitchhiker on some very live Florida reef rock. I've had the rock in the tank about a week and he just popped out and onto the back glass tonight. Its about quarter sized when extended and seems to like the dark -shriveled up a bit when the lights came on. These are sort of side shots - its in the back corner.

Friend of foe!? :)

Odds are not good for friend. It doesn't have pointed tentacles, but otherwise it looks an awful lot like an aiptasia.

Could be a majano as well -- they look like baby BTAs, but are considered a pest. I had a few in my tank and they took out some of my zoas/palys.

Definitely not aiptasia!
Slim possibility it's majano but I've never seen any with clear tentacles.

But on the other hand, I don't know what it is. I love anemones and I'd put it in a QT and see what happens.

majano react to light. they close up at night. don't think its that. looks cool whatever it is. i am not 100% sure its an anemone?
