Looks like an upset Heteractis species to me, possibly aurora, crispa, or malu. Would really help to have a picture of the column and underside of oral disk as well.

It is for sale and that is the pic on the web site. I will ask for a shot under the oral disk.

looks decent other than those stubby tentacles which if it is a crispa means it hasnt had a good feed in quite some time.

Definitly one of the Heteractis species as Scott stated. Impossible to tell from that picture, but with that color, a good guess if a Crispa or Malu. I wouldn't think it's a aurora, but could be that to. I'm positive that it's a heteractis species. And definitly upset at that.

Here is what the company said:
"We recieve our items directly from Indonesia Jakarta, and they call them "Percula Symbiose". I believe this species is: HETERACTIS MAGNIFICA. Thanks for your email, if you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me."

I am still trying to get a pic of its oral disk.

I have never seen a H. Mag. with a oral disk colored like that. That doesn't mean its not possible though. I would think a very angry H. Crispa.

i thought the oral disc resembled h. malu . it doesn't look anything like h. magnifica which has lots of tentacles . they said it's a "percula symbiose" , h. crispa is a natural host with a. percula . assuming it was collected around jakarta would rule out h. malu and further point to h. crispa . what's the url i'd like to see what else they have ?

Definitely not H. magnifca. If a supplier stated such, that supplier's advice in regards to anemones goes down a few notches IMHO.

And I wonder what the coloration really is (maybe pretty brown)? The gravel in the picture shows a definite tint toward blue....

Aaron,

IMHO, the anemone they have labeled as an LTA, may be the Magnfica in that shipment and it looks pretty bad to me.

If it were my money, I would pass on that supplier and go with one that has solid anemone track record...Not to mention, I would get some extended BTA experience prior to heading into Heteractis species.
