Identification and treatment for PBT

I've got a PBT that has been in QT since January. It eats like a pig but it has a strange parasite issue that I cannot identify or remove. I've tried everything I can think of, Copper, PraziPro, and Metro. Any ideas what this is? Internal? Ideas?
This is the most recent picture. These just appeared along the lateral line within the last day.

This is a picture from about a week ago. These have gotten smaller.

Thanks for any help. I'm not sure what to do at this point.

Anchor worms possibly? I would wait until others chime in before taking that to the bank though. But if I'm right, I believe Dimilin is the best treatment. Can be found on ebay/amazon.

I've seen this a few times on powder blues/browns. Unfortunately, nobody had any definite answers for me. Bob Fenner insisted that the fish was sloughing mucous due to some toxin in the water that standard tests don't pick up, recommended running a poly filter to remove any metals. If by any chance you are using tap water in qt, switch to RO. My Asfur developed this condition in QT overnight, a water change later it was gone, but it's hit or miss... good luck.

You sparked my memory.

I only use RO water. The same water I use for my reef. I have been doing daily water changes while it is in QT.

This fish seems very irritated and is constantly rubbing to get them off.

Wow. That looks doesn't look like fun. I'll try to take a few more pics for a comparison.

I really wish I knew more, I've spent a lot of time trying to cure this in the past as well.

FWIW, another expert (Lee Birch) classified it as "jawfish disease" and suggested a formalin treatment, but said even that only worked half the time. I've certainly seen it on more powder blues than jawfish... These "help ID mystery disease on powder blue" threads come up often enough, I wonder why we know so little.

This one has me stumped. I've been working with the fish for several months and am making no progress. Hopefully sharing our stories will expose this issue.

Can you point me in the direction of the formalin treatment?

Is there a way to identify if it is an anchor worm? I thought anchor worms had a split when this extended from the body.

Parasitic. But like I said, Bob Fenner seemed positive that it was not a parasite. Definitely not anchor worms.

I agree with it not being anchor worms. I plan to do a fresh water dip this weekend. Hopefully one of the critters will fall off so I can stick it under a microscope. Maybe I can get a better idea of what I am dealing with.

Freshwater dips did nothing for me, I had to use tweezers to pull them off. Let us know what you see under a microscope!

Did you do a microscope examination? (I have never encountered this specific problem)
