If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Thank you yes they are emerald crabs. My corals don't seem to be growing very quickly but other than that they seem okay. I now after reading some threads have a bigger concern about the coral butty angle fish my store recommended.
yeah those coral beauty's are hit and miss. and even if they aren't interested in corals now if you skip a feeding they may find that they like coral.

Hi everybody
My name is Craig, I am new to RC. I have a 90 gal and a 35 gal.I have read old posts for about 13 years about tbsaltwater.com I am patient so I kept my purple figi rock with a few corals and fish for the 13 yrs. waiting for the right moment to get a package from Richard at tbsaltwater.com I finally ordered it a few weeks ago and OMG I love it!! I picked it up fri.13th. I got home unpacked it put it in a kiddy pool of salt water so I could get a better look at it and get a few critter off that I didn't want in my tank (welks, grilla crabs etc.) then I was able to put the rocks in my tank faster without having them out of the water over a couple sec. to help sponges etc. I left some of the bottom figi in for base rock (that's all LFS rock is good for any way even after 13 years!) I bought critters for 90 gal. package and 50 lbs.of live rock from Richard at tbsaltwater.com to hide the figi rock as best I could and give a better look after all these yrs. I have part 1 of the 35 gal. package in the 35 gal. tank also. I love it all and wish I had bought it 13 yrs. ago when I first started. The 35 gal. will be 100% TBS even the sea horses :) If Richard wasn't on vacation I would burn him up in e-mails bragging on what he sent me HEHEHE IF you look at his web sight I got about everything in the photos. Except the fish, brain and the copapod. WOW what else can I say as you can tell I am 1 happy camper!! I forgot to tell you that it is now day five and no ammonia in the 90 gal. at all and it only went to .25 in the 35 gal and came back down yesterday(complete new start up on this one) All the rock still looks great. Some body tell Richard how happy I am when he gets back .

Seems like you're on your way, there are forums on here that are catered to sea horses make sure you read through those. as as for your cycle it may take a while, just be patient. as for the picture, it looks like an emerald crab but can't be certain there are some that look like emeralds that aren't reef safe.

Hello!
My name is Alex
I have been keeping my tank(at home) for a year now, sadly it was originally not a reef tank. I bought a stars and strips and webbed burrfish as soon as I got my tank because I enjoyed them all to much! I since decided after my Stars and Strips Puffer killed two of my Foxface's and my Vlamingi tang that I would take the foray into a reef. I have a 90 surfline with an Orbit dual compact fluorescent light and other than the puffers I have two False Perculas and two black Perculas, Starry Blenny and hopefully a Hepatus tang soon.
I am the Assistant Manager of a local pet store and in my years have been in charge of taking care of the reef at several of the stores I worked at all varying from 180-340. My adventure now is building up my own. I sadly only have a canister filter and was going to look around for some help on building my own refugium. Anyhow, hello!

Hello!
My name is Mircea, I am from Romania. I started a reef tank a year ago, and found this forum just a few month ago. I'm thinking about opening a topic with my tank, a short story and the problems that I'm having lately.
If it's ok, could someone point me to the right area of the forum, please ?
Thank You!

New :)

New :)

My name is Tabitha, and I've been thinking about starting a salt water fish tank. I would love to make it a reef tank. I've been doing a lot of research, but of course have so many questions :)

A little about me... I'm a stay at home mom, in the early stages of schooling to become a nurse eventually. My oldest daughter is turning 9 on Christmas, and I figured this could be our pet project. We've done the dog route, bird route, and we've decided that we are fish people LOL We've managed to keep our fresh water fish alive for quite some time (Wal-Mart fish at that) LOL

So here I am :)

Very new to reef keeping, hello everyone at RC. Cheak me out

Hello everyone, I'm very new to reef central and new to reefing, never had a tank and I am in the process of prepairing 1 now. So far I have a 75 gallon all glass 20 inch deep but with 3-4 inch of LS it will be closer to 16 inches, 38 gallon all glass sump, (still need to get baffles, it will be disigned as follows from right to left: Overflow drain skimmer area, Return area, Refugium with secondary overflow inlet), Danner classic 9.5 mag drive pump, Koralia EVO 1050 X2, Eshopps 1000 dual HOB overflow, SWC 160 cone skimmer, And a DIY tank stand that I trimmed with red oak. Still need to get lights and RO/DI unit. Hope to be up and going in the next 30 days. You all will hear from me again. I'm starting to love this and I havent the first drop of water yet. I have the reef bug :)

Saltwater Newbie

Good morning all,

It's been a few years since I've had a fresh water aquarium and want to make the transition to a FOWLR tank. You probably won't hear much from me initially while I browse through the forums and write down notes to assist with my planned research. This site has already been a wealth of information. I look forward to participating in the forums as I roadmap my build. Thank you, Chris

Hello RC. My name is Derek. I just purchased a 46 gallon bow front yesterday and the guy(Chris) that sold me the tank suggested that I check out this site. I've been in the hobby for about ten years but its been about five years since I moved to AZ and left my 210 gallon reef tank back in MN. I've had a 30 gallon reef going for five months and now just set up my new 46 last night. I look forward to learning from everyone here and checking out some of the meetings.

I am setting up a new 210 G and needs lots of advice

I am setting up a new 210 G and needs lots of advice

My name is Dale and I live in FL. I have had fresh and saltwater tanks over the years and have been out for the last 6 years. I am getting back in and setting up a new 210. After buying and gathering what I had, I have 2 of everything and need help in deciding what to use. Most pressing is the sump and skimmer. I have a Pro Clear 300 Wet dry and their 350 Skimmer. I am leaning toward using my 50 gallon acrykic tank to make a sump/refugium and use my Euro Reef CS80 skimmer. The tank is drilled and has a built in overflow box in the middle. I have read a lot (too much) and feel the converted 50 would be best. Any advice would be apprieciated. I will tackle lighting next.

Thanks
