Hi my name is Lisa from WV!!!
My husband has had a reef tank for many years, and has his own screenname with RC. I am getting more interested in the hobby and want to learn more on my own!!
We use to have a 125g softies tank and have decided to downsize to a smaller and more high tech rimless tank. (50g cube)
Open to any suggestions and advice on glass tank manufacturers.

New here!

I've always (as long as I can remember) wanted a salt water tank. My girlfriend just set up our old reptile breeding (20 gal) tank for her Freshwaters and it gave me the itch to get my SW experience on the move.

I live outside Detroit. 7 years US Army.

My house is small (1100sq ft), so I can't do what I'd really like (250g). I will start off with a 40gal and worm my way up from there.

I do have a newb question right off the bat though.

I see people mention Live Rock and i know that it contains microorganisms that aid in the processing of certain chemicals. Now, when i do add Coral, do I have to glue the coral to the live rock, or will things that are dormant in the live rock grow naturally?

Hey guys,

I'm new to this forum. I've been in the hobby for a little over 10 years. I currently have a 120 gal fowlr that I'm turing into a reef. So i just want to say hello.

David

you can glue the coral to the rock, or use a reef putty, if you use putty make sure its mixed properly or it wont go hard and is a little dangerous

Hello,
I am new to the site, but not new to the hobby. Started my first reef tank 10 years ago. Since then I have lived in 4 states and countless homes (and loved every min of it). This was a on/off hobby for years due to that fact. I have had my share of tanks, 55gallon, 40breeder, 20long, a few 10 gallons, and my current 14 biocube (gift from my wife). My current set up: 14gallon BC, 70w MH, 48w actinic pc, pacific coast cl-85 chiller, custom hood, custom media rack. It's a great little setup, but i have out grown it. I have also lived in one spot for longer then 2 years and plan on staying put. I have a new build that is just getting under way. Just ordered the tanks last week. A 40 breeder for the main tank (36x18x16), 20 long for the sump (30x12 1/2x13), and a 1/2 15gallon (30x12 1/2x6) for a in-line frag tank. The planing starts now, I will be posting a build thread as soon as I get started.

I have been in and out of the hobby for so many years it is hard to count them all up.

My wife and I are getting back into it once again so we thought we better see what is new now a days. Hope to get some education and provide some in return.

Thanks

Hey Reef Central! After a few months on Aquariumadvice.com, it looks like I hit the mother load of online reef keeping knowledge here at Reef Central. I look forward to picking the brains of the experts here for bits of reef tips and hints.

Currently I have a 55 gal tank that's about 2 months old. My setup includes T5HO lighting, BakPak skimmer, (2) Koralia 3 PH's, 300w heater, 75 lbs of mixed Fiji and Totoka LR and 50lbs of aragonite sand. My current tank residents include an Ocellaris Clown, Blue Damsel, Bi-color Blenny, Bi-Color psuedochromis, and a small chocolate tang, (the tang was an unfortunate inebriated Superbowl buy, don't ask lol). I also have a few turbo's, cleaner shrimp, and emerald crabs for my CUC.

My future plans include starting my coral collection in March and in January of next year I plan to purchase a 90 gal Bowfront reef ready tank. I've been keeping FW aquariums for over 5 years and after my tank catastrophe in November, I decided to switch over to the SW world. It's been fun and I look forward to more! :wavehand:

Hi everyone!
Used to be a silent reader here at reef central and my first tank has come and gone. Sold it off awhile back.

Now, my boss at work is installing a tank here at the office and I've got reefing fever all over again!
