I'm, reading Tullock's "Natural Reef Aquariums" and "The New Marine Aquarium" is on order.

Already have a R/O unit, a couple extra 40Gs and lighting from other hobbies so am looking into reef keeping.

I like ales and tequila and David Hume but have never read any of his works all the way through because he's such a ponderous writer.

I am all for agreeing with you to get the tank drilled, you will not regret it.

That is a very good size to start with.

Thats what I'm thinking. I'm still don't even know yet what I want to stock in it or what style I want to set it up with yet.

Any suggestions for setting up a 90 gallon? Is that too small for a peninsula setup?

Thanks
D

Hi I am Andrew I live in kanehoe hawaii. I am an air traffic controller by day and a fish keeper by night. just finished a 125 gallon diy stand, and looking to start the canopy. I really want to wire diy metal halides but i know nothing about them. I have been keeping fish on and off for the last 20 years and currently have a FOWLR 46 gal euro with 2 bangaii cardinals, a six line wrasse, 2 common clown and a flame angel.

i stumbled onto this website looking for pics of fish to show my wife. We just started a 55g tank over the weekend and this site has been more than helpful......it's down right addicting!

Now is a good time to start your own build thread on here. build threads keep all your information in one place and allow more reefers to see your progress and comment. This thread is huge and information can be buried in it easily.

Hello, I'm Erin from central Maine! I've just recently converted my green spotted puffer tank to full marine and I'm looking into some reefing possibilities! Been reading since the beginning of January, this site is so helpful! So far I've got a humble 30gal setup FOWLR but I'm looking into some "bad tasting" corals to introduce that won't get munched by my puff.

IMO you maybe should re think the idea of a puffer in a mixed reef setup
1 Pufferfish are notorious for being fin nippers. They cannot be with ANY fish who have remotely long or flowy tails.

2Puffers are carnivores and are fast swimmers, anyone to slow and too small runs a rish of being eaten.

3 They are extremely territorial

4 Puffers eat coral and sponges, and are not particular which corals they eat

Hey, I'm a newbie and I have a 90g with live rock, some snails, hermits and two little yellowtail damsels. This site has been a great help with getting the system up and running.

I would like to eventually get into corals but for now I'm gonna start with fish.
