Those are some old percs. If at some point you get interested in raising those clown eggs check out this forum there are plenty of guys that are successful in raising clowns.

I will do so! And thank you very much! AFter I get the new tank setup, and everyone settles down, I will definitely do so. I can't even hurt a spider, (with humans-is different story-not saying I'm a wimp!),and am constantly trying to save even earthworms who ard drying out-so this has bothered me for quite some time!

Hi every one. My name is Lorrie.
Well I guess I am really still a newbie compared to most everyone else here, but I started keeping a saltwater tank a year ago last April. Started out with a 55 gal and now have a 75 gal, 54 gal and 34 gal RSM. The 75 is a mixed reef, the 54 and 34 are softy tanks. Between all three tanks I am keeping clowns in all tanks, yellow tang, clown fairy wrasse, dwarf golden moray eel, diamond goby, tailspot blenny, pajama cardinal, and a marine betta. I also keep a number of freshwater tanks. May start breeding killi fish. I breed, periodically, bristle nose plecos if anyone is interested I have a ton of babies, anyway, I am also an avid harley rider and gardener when I can get away from my tanks. My flower gardens are turning into weed patches
So, I'm glad to be here. I can always use more help now and then and the more opinions and advise and info you can get is the best way to learn about and in turn love this hobby.

My name is Bernie and is living in Sacramental area. I started keeping fresh water fish since I was 8. I only skipped keeping fish for 8 years when I was in college. I have just retired and have 11 years of keeping reef experience in a 75g tank mostly LPS and softies. Now I have plenty of time to seriously getting into keeping more challenging SPS. I have discovered this site recently and am so happy to be part of it. I read many threads and have learned so much. Keep up the good work, we need all of you to share your expertise with us. Hello everyone! My name is Gerry. I am new to the Saltwater aquarium hobby. Right now doing all the homework required to gain the knowledge of how do this successfully. Comparatively speaking, my tank is small, only 10 gallons. I also have a 20 gallon tank that will one day be pressed into service. But for now 10 works. Looking forward to getting a lot of information from past posts and staying in the learning loop. I know that I'll have questions, everyone does in the beginning until they "get their feet wet". When those questions arise, I will be looking for some guidence from the Reef Central cummunity.

Like many that have come before you, this is a great place to get all the info you need. There are plenty of people on this site that are willing to help out any way we can. Good luck and before you know it, that 20 gallon is going to be so small that you're going to want to upgrade to something bigger.

7 year old reef tank- can I get it back?

I have a 40 gallon reef tank that had been doing very well for around six years. Then about a year ago I started getting some green hairy algae growing all over the live rock, then over the corals, pretty much everything. I tried massive water changes, scrubbed algae off the rocks, phosphate control and eventually decided to pull and toss all the live rock and corals since the algae was clearly not going away and covered everything.
With my tank empty, except for 3 fish and some hermit crabs, I installed a fluval cannister filter, put in some fresh live rock, continued frequent water changes and boom the new live rock is again covered in green hairy algae... how do I get this stuff to **** off? I've changed power compact bulbs, should I change out some/all live sand? what next? see photos...

I'm the newest addition to the hobby I suppose!:fun4:

My family and I just got a 150 to set up reef style!

my mom - (TAB Studio) and my brother (Bozo_the_Clown) have been reef keeping for years, but I have never been involved with the hands on process.

With this tank it's time to start learning!

I absolutely love reading and watching the build threads and read them every morning before work. So my first question is, which area of this forum does the build thread for my 150 belong?

I'm truly looking forward to becoming a part of this community and getting to know people who love the hobby as much as my family!

Hi everyone.

My name is Kevin. I live in Ontario, Canada. I've done the freshwater thing but I've always wanted more than just fish in my tank. My wife told me that if I bought her a big house I could get a salt water tank. We move next month!

I don't plan on buying a tank for at least a few months (I'm thinking at least 48"x24"x24"). I'll be obsessively researching until then.

I was wondering if you have any views on the best way to ease into a full-on SPS tank? With my new mortgage payments, I won't be able to buy everything at once. I'll probably buy a used setup and plan on buying dry base live rock and getting live live rock from as many sources as I can. Can I get away with a HOB skimmer for a little while? Can some soft corals take less lighting until I upgrade?
