Hey everyone,
I've been lurking on the site for a few weeks now for hours at a time. I have never owned a saltwater tank before and look forward to the hobby quite a bit. I have had a few smaller freshwater tanks before and that is about it. I plan on buying a Nuvo 16 in a few months and get the IM skimmer that they just released. The tank is going to be used as a FOWLR and I plan on adding two ocellaris clownfish and probably a peppermint shrimp. Until I purchase my tank in a few months I plan on doing research, research, and a little more research. Does anyone in the San Diego area have a specific LFS they like to go to that they trust? I have heard good things about Octopus Garden. Anyways if you have any advice please shoot me a message as I would appreciate any feedback. Thank You

Always wanted a reef tank and recently it was decided to move my work area /office downstairs, which means concrete flooring, which means a large reef tank :). I have been lurking the forum for the past month now, so I thought it was about time I joined.

Hi, my name is Tim & I'm located in Grove, OK. I have had reef tanks in the past (about 8yrs ago) but had gotten away from the hobby until last year when I started my 90gal. It seems to be coming along really well, even though I have had a few issues from things that I had totally forgotten (like not topping off with saltwater!). I have been reading this website for several months now & I can't believe how much information & help is available here.

I am Mike. Had a sw tank 25 yrs ago. Pre reef days mostly. Had a lone clown trigger in a 29 fo w bleached coral and an undergravel filter. Been reading RC for 20yrs I guess? I am going to try a reef. Thanks for the message boards here and thanks for the future help I hope to get as my tank progresses.

Hi everyone,
I have had a freshwater tank on and off for 20 years. Right now I have two ten Gallon tanks that are holding Platy fry. My 12 year old bought me 2 Platys for Mother's Day. Of course both were pregnant. My hubby and I bought one 10 gallon for the fry and then another. As soon as they get bigger ( the third set of fry) I'm taking all the platys to a LFS. I then want to make both 10 Gallon tanks into reef tanks. Would love advice on how to make the change from freshwater to saltwater, and also what I will need to start my reef.

Hello everyone.

My name is johannes, and I recently started a 20 gallon saltwater aquarium that I would like to do a nano reef with and maybe 1 or 2 fish.

I have several freshwater aquariums that have been running for write a while.

10 gallon had been running 1.5 years, my 55 gallon is coming up on a year in january, then I have a1.5 gallon for my small beta and a 2.5 gallon for my 2 year old beta.

An looking forward to learning as much as I can about saltwater aquariums and one day convert my 55 gallon to saltwater or purchase a 100 gallon in a few years.

Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone

Hello Everyone,

My name is Domenic and I am very new to the Salt Water hobby. I have had great experience in the past with freshwater and decided it was time to step into the Salt Water field. I am currently running a 33 Gallon set up with a large Eheim Canister filter, about 30lbs of live rock, and power head. After reading many mixed reviews I've decided to hold off on a protein skimmer and do frequent water changes (20% every 2 weeks) instead.

I have a mated pair of clowns that look great and are very active and a Hector's Goby who makes an appearance every couple of hours, as well as a clean up crew and a beautiful blood shrimp. I am hoping to add a few more select fish over the next month or so and am currently doing a lot of research and deciding what species I will be introducing. As I can't have that many fish I want to make sure I have a good range of top, middle, and bottom swimmers in varied colours and swimming patterns that will live happily together.

This forum was so helpful when setting up my tank and I go to it for almost every question I had in the initial set up. I look forward to the continued growth of my tank and maybe looking into some easy to care for Corals in the near future.

Hello all. My name is Mike i am 35 and I am extremely new to the world of saltwater aquariums. In fact the only experience I have with fish is my 2 yr old sons beta fish (we have a great relationship. Ha ha) Like many others in the forum, my friend recently moved and I received his 75 gallon tank and related equipment (canister filter, power head and heaters). After reading about the parameters needed to keep a saltwater tank, I am now looking for a reef ready tank and sump system. I will keep the old tank as a quarentine or mixing tank or something. So I look forward to detailing my journey with the forum and also am very excited to feedback and ongoing tips and help. Thx. Mike
