Newbie here

Greetings to all,

I'm kelvin. Fairly new to this hobby. I started up with a 58L (est 15gallons) tank, by my friend 2 months ago. Now I'm design and planning for my new tank. A 270L (est 65 gallons). Hope to get more tips here before I built it to prevent poor design and bad filtration system.

Hi I'm newly registered, but have been reading here a lot. Thank you all for this bank of knowledge. 6 months in. JBJ-24g. Bare bottom. No corals yet. I might just be too patient. No ImageUploadedByTapatalk1352963401.010801.jpg

Hola

Hola

Hello RC. My name is Charley and I am finally making the switch to SW. A new 125 Gal has just been fabricated. I am wondering if there is anyone in the bay area that does tank consulting etc. as I would be very interested in speaking with someone about setting up my dream tank the correct way. If so, I would love to set up a meeting. Please shoot me a note at charleycurran@gmail.com.
Thanks in advance and happy Friday in 34 mins! :)

Hi everyone I,m steve I had been keeping fish for about 6-7 years I had a fowlr set up like 8-10 years back i had a 75 with a maroon clown queen angel and a few 3 spot damsels. i had rock in the tank and a wet dry with boi balls and rock in the outher part of the sump with a carbon bag. In ny we had a major blackout in the summer i lost everything my fish were over 4 years old i was so mad i never set a tank again. well i kinda got the bug im looking to set up a fish tank and eventually adding some soft corals polyps mushroms and some star mat things whatever they call them now i dont know.. the technology advanced so much since then im lost. I want to get a perfecto 90 gal with built in overflow in it .. a sump around 40gal or so .. I know these tanks run skimmers only so i need advice on what to get im nervous cause the feeding of the fish i have only experience use a filter. do they have pre made sumps ,what lighting do i need and other equipment do i need.. i want to start the tank with rock slowly add fish and see how the tank acts with these fish and skimmer and slowly add coral .. I had good success with fish keeping .. so can anyone point out equipment name brands and model#s.. I want to get the right stuff first because there is a good chance i will transition into a decent reef tank in the future .. Thanks for your help.

Hello to all,

My name is Jonathan and I keep a 100 gallon reef tank with my wife (our son "helps" too). We have had it for 3 and a half years. I am looking to expand my knowledge so we do not rely so heavily upon our aquarium store with which we have developed a relationship. I will read before I write, I look forward to soaking up the knowledge in the forum. Thank you all, I look forward to speaking with you.

Hi to all.

Hi to all.

My name is Brandon Hicks and I am from Manteca, Ca. I am new to saltwater I have a 46gal bow front tank, I have live sand and rock,(not all the rock I need yet, but working on it). I have a fluval 406, a coralife super skimmer 65g. I have been working on getting my ph up to 8.1 testing with api high range tester( I am sure I am there, have been adding Kent marine pro buffer. my salt is good on the hydrometer. I still need a heater and lighting, along with a wavemaker. Have been running filter for about 4 weeks. Just kind-of taking my time to try and get it right. I have done one 20% water change. messed the water up and got it back again. I thought that I should get the changing water correct before adding. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanx
Brandon

Hi I'm Silvia,
I used to have a pico-reef (3g), 7 years ago. I graduated in Marine Biology and I wanted to put my knowledge in practice.
My pico lasted 1 year then I had to go away 4 months for work and when I came back it was a disaster and I had to dismantle it.

Now I'd like to start again a nano. This time I've got a 10G tank :) Next month I'll start to cure the rocks :)

Bye bye

(PS: I'm not english motherlanguage so forgive my spelling and grammar errors ^_^)

Hello, my name is Cory, i am 25 and from Maine. I've been interested in this hobby for over a year but lack of funds kinda killed that. as of a month ago i kinda fell into 180 gallon tank, with a protein skimmer, T5 Current lights, a pair of sea swirls, about 90lbs of rock at the moment plan and need to get more. have a few fish and some coral. there is a good possibility i am in over my head so this should be good. I've been doing some reading here and realize i need to do a lot more. i am hopeful that i can someday make my tank as beautiful as some of the ones i have seen here but i shale see all in good time. :D

Greetings, all. I'm Don and I'm new to this site. There's so much great info here, and all the people seem genuinely interested in helping.

I plan a reef in the near future, but right now I'm operating several brackish tanks, mainly with inverts. I have a question about connecting my half-full brackish tanks to my sump, but I'm not sure exactly where to post the question. Guidance?

Thanks, and I look forward to learning more about this fascinating hobby.

bubble algae

Not sure how to post a question...
my husband has been taking care of our 35 gallon tank, but he is on a longish business trip, and I'm not sure what to do. I'm getting bubble algae among my rocks. what kills that?
