Hello

Hello

Hello all. My name is Casey and I am currently in Omaha, Nebraska. I have been in the hobby for about 1 1/2 years, and have a biocube HQI and a 40 breeder reef tanks currently running. In a few months we are doing a complete basement remodel, and I will be installing a 265 in wall. We will be building a fish room to house all of the equipment, QT tank, frag tank, ro/di system etc... As it gets closer I will start a build thread, and I am all for input. I continue to research daily, and consider myself still fairly new to the hobby.

hello from Colorado (lonetree).
I am getting back into aquariums, I have a custom 150-155 gal reef tank going into my house as part of a remodel job. I will be see through, in wall location between the office and living room.

I haven't had an aquarium since 2003, so I have a lot to catch up on for new technologies.

My inital plans are to have the tank installed, then start with a SpectraPure MaxCap RODI system (90gpd unit) for auto-top off to sump, a 60gal reservoir for water changes (will be a poly-plastic container used for agricultural purposes that will be framed out with wood to function as table in basment).... 3rd, will be a pressurized reservoir for the house steam humidifier unit.

I am also taken the time to make a custom fiberglass/gel-coated pan for under the aquarium (5" high sides). This will hold the sump/refugium, skimmer, pumps...etc. The pan is plumbed with 1-1/2" PVC under subfloor and exits outside of house into dedicated gutter down spout for any overflow conditions and for water change draining.

....I just have to research the LED lights and have a UPS system in place for circulation pump on power outage conditions.

Once all that is in place, I will start on the interior of the aquarium and start on the reef. For now I am liking the idea of using the "Finding Nemo" theme for species (minus the predators)

Measuring Salinity

Measuring Salinity

Hello all! I m a newbie to a 120gal marine tank ... Still in its early stages ... No fish orccoral yet since i want to gef d water paremeters right.
My only problem is salinity. My refractometer is measuring 1.027 (calibrated using RO/DI water) whilst my FLUVAL G6 conductivity meter is showing 43mS.

Who am i to beleive???? The refractometer or d conductivity meter?!

Hello, my name is Jerry and I am basically a newbie too reef aquariums. I currently have two 29 Biocubes up and running. I have about 30lbs of LR, and 20lbs of live sand and few fish in each ((1) Parculla Clown, Six Line wrasse, Yellow head sleeper goby, Engineer Goby, purple fire goby, two emerald crabs, and a coral banded shrimp(2) two tamato clowns, yellow watchman goby, diamond goby, emerald crabs, and a fire shrimp. I also have a bubble tip in each tank, some pink xena, sun coral, and some Zoos in each tank. Everything is doing ok in the tanks now, but I am looking to upgrade to a bigger tank, possibly a 120 gallon tank.

I look forward to reading the forums on RC to help me research and build an awesome reef tank.

Just joined the club!

Hi there, my name is Paul, just signed up to RC forum, I am in the process of setting up a brand new 38 Gallon reef tank and would like to document my steps on this forum. I have found lots of helpful advice on this forum and others and would like to share my project both for personal advice and inspiration to others.

Please let me know where the best place would be to start the thread. I will have lots of pictures to display.

Thanks again.

Hello everyone

Hello everyone

Hello RC my name is Carlos from Miami Fl, I am bit new to this around 2 years and still learning all about sea salt aquariums, I have a 75 G and so far I love it . A very good friend of mine told me about this site hope I can get good deals on corals and much more. Thank you.

Hi all! Mike here, newbie to saltwater/reef keeping. Was refered to the site from a member on a FW forum. Have kept fresh water for several years, but was recently bit by the reef bug and decided to join the site. That being said I promise not to post another word about FW ;)

Looking to start up a nano reef with a 12g long I already have. Once I get my ducks in a row I'm sure I'll have some questions regarding DIY'ing an AIO type design with the tank.

Looking forward to all the great knowledge here!

Cheers!

Hi everyone, my name is Alan and I'm a software dev from UK.

Im a complete beginner to keeping fish and I'm here really just to research if it would be possible for me to setup a saltwater reef tank and how I would go about doing it, I've wanted a reef tank forever and now it's a possibility for me I figure I should look into it.

Just thought I would say hi to the forum. I have been lurking for a while now and learning a lot. I have a 180 tank and am new to the hobby. I have about ten friendly fish and several little frags of coral.
Thanks for all of the great info so far!

Merry Christmas to all!
My name is Wendy, and im somewhat new to the site. I joined a few years ago, but took a break from the hobbie as work and school required no "fun" time! I am back now with a 50 gal reef tank with about 30-lbs live rock. I've added many small frags of coral that I plan on watching grow(budget would not allow me to buy large show pieces, but half the fun is in the journey!).
Just here to increase my knowledge of the hobbie and see what other reefers experiences have been, the good and the bad!

Glad to be back,

Hi all, my name's Josh but I've used the online handle Tripwyr for years.

My father and I have been researching salt water for months now, and we're finally buying a 120 gallon tank before month's end. Figured now was as good a time as any to become active. Big plans for this tank, but I'll save that for another time and another thread.

Merry Christmas and I look forward to my first pictures!

Be sure to read through the stickies so that you can hopefully avoid some of the bigger problems that plague most new comers.

New Tank, for Saltwater, I hope:)

New Tank, for Saltwater, I hope:)

Hello, my name is Mike, my wife and daughter gave me a 26 gallon Aqueon delux bowfront tank. My hope is to learn as much as possible to start a salt water tank. Hoping this site could be helpful in such an endeavor. I am in no hurry, would like to make a new hobby of this for my wife and I both. We are now empty nesters! So, with that, can any help be given, or previous post be pointed out, as to where we should begin? I have already read several things that might be needed, but as usual, funds are limited for each step, so where to begin? Thanks in advance for any advice, suggestions, directions. Looking forward to it all!

Merry Christmas.

Hello
Not real new here but have been in limbo for 2+ years. I had a 55 setup but long story short I couldn't keep up. I have been scouring the threads and looking at all of the setups and the bug has bitten again. Iam going to try my hand at a 29 bio hqi. Glad to be back.

Thank you

Hello. New to RC but not the hobby. Been in the hobby about 3 years but just got real passionate about 6 months ago. I have a 125 SW Reef with mainly softies and a few LPS and SPS but transitioning more to the LPS and SPS. Have successfully bred ocellaris clown fish several times. Still have about 40 left in the grow out tank :). Also have a 48 bow that I am turning into a softie tank so I can make the transition in my big tank. I have already learned a lot on here. Looking forward to learning from all you pros.

David
