If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

I'm Briana, I live in Northern Maine. Have been doing freshwater for about 3 years. Started with a little betta in a bowl, and the fish craze has spiraled out of control! I have broken down my 29 gallon freshwater, but still have a little 10 gallon planted freshwater. I have a 55 gallon coming that will be my first saltwater. I have lots to learn and plan on researching like a mad woman before setting anything up! Good to be here!

Hi there everyone. I am a real estate broker here in metro Detroit and I'm just finally building my system. I have been collecting books and researching for almost ten years. Patience won't be a problem for me :) Believe it or not, my doctor suggested an aquarium to help with stress in managing this real estate market so it was the little push I needed.

My new tank, I believe its a 130g 48x24x26, was delivered just before Christmas, substrate and some rock scape are in place and my RO is being delivered tomorrow. I'm a voracious reader and enjoy the generosity of the experienced reefers in this group sharing their knowledge. I look forward to learning more from all of you. Thanks again! Gwennie

Hello, my name is Karl, I'm from Chicago. I'm new to RC, and new to saltwater fish-keeping, although I've had fish tanks for about 7 years now.

I'm currently working on a nano tank.

Hello, names Jim. I’m in central Illinois, sorry don’t hold that against me please. All kidding as side. I have a Nano 29 on order with my Local shop. I have three maybe four weeks before it comes in. I’ve had fresh water aquariums for thirty plus years. This will be my second attempt at saltwater. My first try at it I was to young, and too busy chasing, well you know! So I’m doing as much reading as I can soaking up the years of knowledge that’s available online these days. Wow, things have really changed since my last go around. Looking at basically a reef setup. And very few fish. But If things keep progressing at this pace, I’ll be switching over my FW tanks? Anyhow Thanks for all your help with us Newbies. Jim

Hey guys, my name is Luc. I'm not new to the hobby but I have been away for a while. I had a 90g tank that I had to sell when I moved out of my house but now I bought a new house and I can setup a small tank. When I say small it has to be 30" long. I'm trying to find a 56g column tank but it is not easy. I have a 20 sump. I have order a diy set of LEDs from rapid led. I can't wait to get this setup started. Oh, and in about 3 years I'll be buying a new house with room for a 6' tank. So lots of projects going on in my mind! lol

Thanks,
Luc

Hello all this is TC from SouthEast Georgia battling having the worst city water in the world. Buying a RO unit is not cost efficient around here. I travel across state lines in search of better water or just many trips to the grocery store.

Hello all, my name is Chuck. I live in central New Jersey. I've been keeping aquariums since I was a little kid, both salt and fresh, and I'm currently planning my first reef tank after years of drooling and research. I'm currently working on figuring out all the hardware I'm going to be using, and I can't wait to get started building!

Hello RC members. My name is Michelle and I live in Northeast Ohio. I started with a 75g fish only about 5 years ago. I just upgraded to a 125g w/a 35 g ref-sump . I wanted to give a reef aquarium a shot. It’s been up and in good shape for about a year. As some might know, I think I have information overload. Reading all the information about reef tanks do’s & don’ts. Been having a few issues with some soft corals not surviving in the tank. All my fish are doing great. I’m looking for some advice on how to proceed and make my show tank how I’ve always imagined it to be.

Hello! My name is Ron and I'm a reef-a-holic. As you can see from my join date, it's been a LONG time. However, I gave up my tank 7-8 years ago because of my busy schedule.

Starting over now, and a LOT has changed!
