If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Noob here!

Noob here!

Hello I am Newbie here and to the hobby. I just got a pre-drilled 75 gal tank. I have decided to make this my long term project so I am planning to do everything by myself or atleast as much as i can. I hope I can find people that are willing to help me through this path of creating a little piece of Ocean.

The tank also has a built in overflow box in that overflow box is where the tank is pre-drilled one of the holes has a diameter of 1.75 inch and the other one 1.5inch. I wa wondering if these are two outlets or one is an outlet and the other one is the return pipe? any help?

Stocking List. Please help!

Hi! Im a newbie at all the aquarium world, and I would love to get some of you're thoughts.
I have a 60 gallon tank complete with love rock, protein skimmer, filter, lights, everything I need to get started. Here is the stocking list I was thinking about, and I would love a second opinion.
-2 Ocellaris Clownfish
-1 Firefish
-1 Green Mandarin (once my tank has enough growth on the live rock to sustain it)
-1 Coral Beauty Angelfish
-1 Royal Gamma
-2 Yellow headed Jawfish
-1 Falco Hawkfish
-2 Six Line Wrasse

What do you think? I would love to have your opinion! :fish1:

Hello RC my name is Matt i live in NJ i am very new to this, this is my first forum as well as my first time starting a marine tank. Im starting with a 29 Gallon tank. i want it to be mostly reef with mayb 4 - 5 fish. My tank will not have a sump due to space restrictions. The only items i have at this time is the 29 Gallon tank im debating between getting a Fluval 305 Canister filter or a Penguin 200 Power filter. I have an Oceanic Protein skimmer, and a heater. Im looking to start off with about 20 - 30 pounds of live rock and about 30 pounds of live sand. Like i said this is all very new to me and i have a lot of questions and will take any and all advice that i can get. Look foward to hearing from u guys. Thanks

Hi. My name is Bill. Been trolling various sites for a couple of weeks and this one seems to offer great advice. I am new to marine aquariums. I am purchasing a 72 gallon bowfront tank off of someone along with reef capable lighting, 15 gallon sump, and about 100 pounds of tonga rock with coraline algae on it. Looking forward to browsing the forums and also getting some specific info from all. Looking forward to a new hobby!

Hey everyone. My name is Kalen. I am new as in very new to salt water aquariums. I just got a 24 gal bio cube from a wonderful lady here on reef central. I got it set up and running Sunday night. She had left a little water and the live rock in there. The tank is beautiful and the water cleared up nicely. We are going to let it cycle for a few weeks. What are some good fish to go in a tank this size?

New to saltwater

New to saltwater

Been an avid freshwater keeper for awhile now and I'm finally getting ready to start up my first saltwater tank.

I've been lurking around for awhile gathering a little knowledge here and there.

I've purchased my tank and have been buying odds and ends for awhile now but I will be running a 90 gallon with overflow along with a 30 gallon 4 chamber sump

Glad to finally add my name to the members list here and hope to become a member of the community as well!! I'll try to not ask to many dumb questions!!

Hey RC,
My names Andrew but you can call me Andy if ya Want.
I've done freshwater now for about 5 years.
Just started saltwater about 5 months ago, started researching a year before that.

My tank is about 4 months old now, doing great with only one loss(not my fault) and looks great too.

Here is my equipment list:

Aqueon 55g megaflow drilled tank w/ corner overflow
Solar flare sx LED lighting 48"
Reef Octo Nwb-110 skimmer (great stuff)
(2) Koralia 550s
Mag 5 return pump
About a 30 gallon sump

Fish:
2 ocellaris clowns 1 black 1 orange
Kole tang
Melanarus wrasse
Dragon goby (sleeperhead goby)
More to come...

Inverts:
Yellow coral banded shrimp
Nassarius snails
Dwarf ceriths
Florida ceriths
Hermits

That's about it!

Hi all!

I'm setting up my 90 gallon reef after 8 years of it sitting in the basement. The plan for the new setup includes:
EShopps PSK-150 skimmer
Eshopps R-200 refugium/sump
Eheim 1262 return pump
2 - Aqua-illuminations SOL Blue fixtures

The plumbing is just about done and I plan to start adding water over the weekend. A couple of quick initial questions-

1. What is the best way to level the tank? I'm a little uncertain about just shimming one end of it as it's an old house, and I want to spread the load as much as possible.

2. Is there any reason I shouldn't mix the initial salt water in the tank and sump and use the return pump to mix it?

Thanks!

-Alec

Hello all, names Eric. Been a long time lurker but finally decided to come out and share my tank and experience with the community. I've had my tank for about a year now and definitely had my ups and downs with it but overall it's doing great.

Hello all,

When I set up my aquarium over a year ago, I spent plenty of time reading through the forums to learn about the hobby. I guess it is time I introduce myself and starting helping other people with the knowledge and experience that I have gained.

I have a 29 gallon aquarium that I converted from a freshwater tank. Right now there is a clown fish, scooter blenny, six-line wrasse, T. crocea, emerald crab, and peppermint shrimp living in the tank. I have a couple of colonies of NPS that hitchhiked on my live rock and Zooanthus corals.

Future plans: upgrade to an 180 gallon island aquaium.

Later,Adam

Hi, my name is Dirk and I am a noob when it comes to marine tanks. I have had a cichlid tank for many years, but I am setting up a marine 55 gallon for my son. Starting off with a FOWLR... Once that's going well, we'll turn it into a reef.

I have already amassed a wealth of knowledge from various web sites and forums and have built a nice overflow (although I'm going to replace it with a "herbied" eshopps PF-1000 next week) and a very customized (due to stand size constraints) sump. I look forward to reading and sharing with others...

New to everything.

New to everything.

Hello my name is Keith and I am new to the hobby. I am 21 now but have been diving since I was 15 and have always wanted a saltwater tank for my home. I have gotten two tanks, one from a friend(75 gallons with stand) and happened onto another(Not sure about gallon size a stand-up hexagon tank which I plan to use for quarantine tank to the bigger one). Could use some guidance here. Have the money and time to finally get started. But I'm having trouble on where to start but I want to start somewhere. Once I learn this site a little better I will upload some photos of both tank and placement in my house. Please feel free to contact me any way you'd like email, skype or phone.
