If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

Hi, I am new on this hobby. I have started it before some days ago. I haven't enough knowledge about my new hobby. I want to learn more about my new hobby.

Hey all! I'm new to the salt-water side of the hobby. :) Only been keeping freshwater.

Rather excited and can't wait to get started, but I know better than to rush things. :P

Noobie!

title would indicate I am upset, and yes I am.

I have been a member since 2008, but haven't ever really posted and if i ever did, those posts are gone.

Me being a un-involved member, I made several posts to things i liked, asked questions about or thought worhty to say something too. Albiet yes obviously, so i could bump up my posts so i could have more access to the classifieds because I am looking for supplies because I am still new to this hobby and have finally gotten my life in a way where I can start learning more or building up my supplies..

What do I get today, a very severe warning, probation for 90 days and accussed for being so obvious as using this site to sell things.

Well, excuse me, as I am sure just saying this will kick me up to another severe warning or maybe out of being a member. Who knows.

Though I understand the rules, now, though i didn't read them before though I may ponder on them and why they are made, albeit now.

For someone who signed up 4 years ago, and have visited this site and read posts in 4 years from time to time. I am not trying to abuse your site. Jesh.........You betcha I was trying to beef up my posts, because the site should be an opened one Not a restricted one or not restricted to 50 posts good Lord, that could take some of us who don't socialize as much as others, another 4 years to achieve....Good Grief!:deadhorse1: Newbies beware, if you need something maybe this aint the place to get it anytime fast. Take your time, be patient and maybe in 4 years, you too can gain access, or like me, maybe not....:sad2:

Not new, but rarely ever post anything. I get on occasion to read through post as of late, I just remembered I had a RC account. I can same I am ashamed for this, RC is a great site and has a ton of useful info.

Currently, I am fighting ICH and in light of that, I remembered I had an RC account when doing research on the various ways to treat it. However, I am taking caution as I have a Mandarin pair and a Leopard wrasse (thread posted on this topic recently).

Due to lack of time and responsibility, I have lost may corals the last few months and it saddens me, but I will not let this bring me down and the corals remaining will prevail!

My current set up is a 90 gallon wave front tank, though I will be moving in july and bought a 150 to upgrade to. I am currently using my 90 as a QT/ hospital tank and my 150 to hold all my LR, nems and coral. It has been a hectic last couple weeks dealing with my system, school, and work. But, in the end, I would not give reef-keeping up. I love this hobby and all that it entails.

My current bio-load consist of 1 Naso tang, one Flame Fin Tomini Tang, 1 Yellow Tang, 1 Borbonias Anthias, 1 Leapoard Wrasse, 1 Klein's Butterfly, Extreme Black Misbar Clown Female and Snowflake Clown Male (all in 90 QT), Mandarin Pair (in 50gal sump/ refugeium).

Hello Reef Central. I've had aquariums since I was 10 but all were freshwater. My brother, God bless him, is trying to be successful with saltwater aquariums and after him giving me a few things and begging me to convert my 55 gal. over to salt, I caved. I have had the 55 set up for two months and after some issues with, well lets just say stupid mistakes, I am about to tear it down and put together a 90 gallon the right way. Thats why I am here; to get as much info as I can.

Hello, my name is Derek. 30 years old and located in champaign. 38gal for my first tank. New to the hobby, enjoyed my roommates tank for the last year and a half and figured it was time I made to jump. Lots of great reader and tons of info to absorb.

Hi Derek! I did a 38g for my first salty too! It's a good size for a few fish and coral. Not too small but not too huge. Congrats and enjoy!

Hey everyone I have been silently digging through the posts for the last few months. I recently got the bug to start my hobby of fish keeping back up and reefs are a new area for me. As of now I am in the planning stages of setting up a 93 gallon frameless cube. Due to house shopping I will probably be piecing together my system one item at a time and might take me a year to buy all of the components to get it operational. In the mean time I found a 30 gallon nano cube that i will be playing with

Hi Guys, my name is Trevor, I live in the UK, had a reef tank before, got back into it again now, had a big blowout due to adding too much live rock at once, ive a 550 litre tank and was a bit amateurish about it im afraid.

Anyway the tank is now awesome, attached a photo, just added 4 A1 SOL lights, its a 5ft tank, the difference to halides is amazing. Also, the chiller does not come on at all now.

Guess i should introduce my self here...

Been in the hobby for abut 8 years total but have not had a tank in recent years. This weekend i picked up a used Oceanic Tech Tank 120. The tank had been up 2 years or so but needed love the owner didnt invest the time it required to keep. It was a fish only setup with LR. He kept the fish and i took the tank, sump everything and the rock plus i kept about 20 gallons of the old water and the rest is freshly mixed. Ill get pics tonight. So far i got everything cleaned and set up. i scrapped the crushed coral for a sand bed about 4" deep.

Anyway glad to be here and glad to be back in the hobby.

hello my name is Melissa. I live in Melbourne Florida. I am a stay at home mom with my 1 yo daughter. I just recently purchased a 55g tank I have had it running for about 4 weeks now. I have 2 bait fish in there and a hermit crab I got from the river and they are doing fantastic. would love to talk with anyone willing to make a friend and learn more about this hobby. My father had a 200g tank when I was younger and I have been around saltwater my whole life scuba dived annd snorkled quite a bit so im very excited about my new tank. bringing back childhood memories I can share with my own daughter!

Hello guys my name is Jean-Louis i am 25 and living in Collingwood Ontario, Canada.
I am very new to the hobby as well. Had kept african cichlids for a number of years going from a goldfish in a fishbowl up to a show quality 125g tank with sump. I was very sad to see it go as i had raised all very young juveniles into mature adults but due to a move i was forced to sell it all. So now its been a few years and im ready for a new challenge. I have acquired a used 90g aquarium with stand and have put it to good use. Currently im running an emperor 400 biowheel, rena canister filter temperarily which is rated for 60-70 gallons, and 2 1150 Korillia water pumps.
My goal is to have a beautiful reef aquarium with cummunity fish and corals flourishing. excited to be back in the aquarium hobby :)

Hi there!

I'm Chummer (never had this name before, but all my stand-bys were taken)! I'm 30 and live in Boston, Massachusetts.

I've been meaning to get back into the hobby for years and will be moving in August and figured it would be a good time to get started!

My experience has only been with freshwater fish (mostly cichlids), so I am a complete newbie. I'm hear to read, learn, and absorb as much as possible.

I look forward to interacting with you all!

Cheers!

Hello All,
As the title shows I am new to RC. Started reefing about 18mos ago with my Love. Of course he is the brains behind the operation but what reefer doesn't want a supporter for a partner?

I am hoping to read, learn and tag along.

About me and my tank

About me and my tank

Have been a "reefer" for about 4 years now , i live in the beautiful city stavanger , in Norway , i am 46 years old.:(

I register here some time ago , but just now , i have start to read here , and now it,s time to start writing something..:crazy1:

First i start with with a Juwel 180 litres without sump and small hang on skimmer . I realize after short time that the fishes i like to keep needed a bigger tank , so i bought a Aquamedic anthias , wich is about 500 litres (120 gallon) i had this system for about 2,5 years , and felt to upgrade again . I made some sketches , and sendt to a aquarium builder in Uk . And in august 2012 i get the tank i have now , it is about 220 gallon + 100 gallon sump .

A video of my reef .:D
