If You Are New to Reef Central, Introduce Yourself Here!

I need help and im not sure exactly how to work this website. This is the first thing I can see that will allow me to type. Can someone please help?
I have a 29 gal biocube, been testing the water at my local aquarium store. They told me my tank was cycled (after 2 weeks with live rock and live sand and using stability). We added crabs and snails and some coral everything looks great and water levels are staying perfect. Ordered a pair of premium ice snowflake clown fish. I drip acclimated them for 30-45 minutes and then added them to my tank. One is swimming around and exploring, the other (male) is laying on the bottom of the tank not wanting to explore. I am worried that he might of got too stressed during shipping. any suggestions? is he going to be okay?

Hi Everyone!

I had a fresh water tank when I was a kid and have been trying to get into salt water. My brother had one when I was a kid and I've wanted one for a long time. Just getting into it right now and am trying to start on a nano cube.

Looking to post my first salt water tank in the future when it's setup!

Hi all!

New to the hobby, but have been reading about it for the last three months...

Have a small nano tank up and running why I build my 90gl... Once that is running my nano will turn into a QT Tank.

Loving all the help on this board! Hopefully someday I'll be able to share my experiences I have with new members! Until than; thanks for learning me 😃

my name is roger and im new to the game ive decided to build a tank and would like to know best dimensions for a lps tank

Its really depends on how many different types of LPS you want.

I would say a decent size to start would be a 30 Gallon with a 10 gallon sump.

that would be a basic start.

This way you can have a various assortment of LPS as well as 2 or 3 fish.

hello

hello

Hi, I am new to this forum. I am a thirty year vet of fish keeping. I have done almost every aspect of fish keeping, from maintenance, collection, to coral fragging. I usually stalk from the shadows, but decided to come into the light. At the moment, I have a 14 gallon biocube mini reef and a 75 gallon reef.

Hello! My name is Kyle and I hail from Corpus Christi, TX. I'm just beginning my adventures in reef tanks. Currently I have a 40g breeder tank with w/d filter that is running freshwater for a leak test. I am piecing everything together slowly and keeping an eye on this forum for guidance. I'm excited to get the tank up and running and the learning that comes with it!!

Can anybody tell me how to post a new thread? I feel stupid but have been looking around for about half hour and still can't figure it out.

Hello everyone. Name is Derek.I live in Buffalo, New York. I've been in the hobby for about 2 years after a long run in the freshwater hobby. Mostly lps but I have a colony of zoanthids and a couple mushrooms in there too. Plus 2 clown fish.

Brand new to saltwater. I have a 90 gallon with about 90lbs of live rock, 1 powerhead, reef octopus skimmer, heater, 6 t5's, unidentified pump, all running on a reefkeeper lite. Tank came with 2 clowns, 1 cardinal, starfish, and 2 that I have not identified yet.

I will be asking plenty of questions and am hoping to learn a lot!

Thanks in advance

Hi!

Hi!

I'm setting up my first saltwater tank. It took 100 gallons of RO water to fill it, I've got argonite sand in the bottom and I'm working on getting the salinity right. This is Day 1 of what looks to be a great new hobby.

Hey everyone,

I'm Shana. I've been poking around here for a little while, as I'm in the research phase of this hobby. I have had a 55-gallon freshwater tank for about 10 years; currently housing a Jack Dempsey cichlid as it's main inhabitant. My husband and I discussed adding a second tank and think a reef would be a great addition. I'm still undecided as to the size - considering either a ~30-gallon or a 75-gallon. (My husband wants a 6-foot long tank, but I don't want to stress the floor too much... and I'm the one that will be maintaining things, so I get the last say. :D)

I look forward to learning more and meeting you all!

Hi All, Dave here, I also go by my biker handle of Big Easy and if you know any of my ex-girl friends I also respond to "Hey Jack A$$" :) I'm checking in from the cold frozen north (it was -35c this morning without windchill) of London, Canada for those that don't know where that is it's half way between Detroit and Toronto, or 105 miles NNE of Cleveland and if you were to drill a hole directly through the earth from where I am you'd end up about 1500 Miles SSW of Perth Australia in the middle of the south Indian Ocean.

I've been checking the forums out for a while and decided I should get around to introducing myself.

I currently keep a 45g Bowfront freshwater aquarium thats been going for the last 8 years but I decided last year that as the fish died off I wouldn't replace them and then replace that tank with a 90G salt water with 30G sump. So I'm only down to a few fish left and I decided to start getting my equipment together for the switch over.

I'm going to start with a Fish only with Live Rock, but in time I'll probably end up going reef I just don't want to take on too much as I learn the new aspects of salt water fish keeping.

It'll be a while before I setup my salt tank as I have a 8 year old 19" long Plecto that I need to find a new bigger home for he's just keeps growing and is too big for my 45.

So far I've gotten the new tank and sump from my LFS, I picked up a set of ChiCom LED lights and a friend of mine got me a steel stand from the LFS... I'm not happy with the design of the metal stands (I don't put faith in welds I didn't do) so I'll be re-engineering it to add some extra supports and large plates wielded to the bottom of the feet to increase the surface area for the weight to be distributed onto as it passes from stand to floor. I won a DA ReefKeeper Elite on ebay over the weekend so that's one less thing to acquire. I'm looking forward to the build and will have a crap tonne of questions but heck that's why I joined so I could learn from those who have been in this hobby for all the years before me.

Hey there! New here, but I have been in the hobby for almost a year. I have a 50 gallon tank so I'm a little more active on other nano specific forums. I have been lurking on reef central for a while now since it contains a lot of useful information. Looking forward to meet more people on this forum.
