Illinois off the deep end.

So on the way home for the fish club get together I stopped by Menards to get some muriatic acid to clean some calcium off of some old fittings and they wanted to see my drivers license and the lady pulled out a book with names on it. I ask why and she said it was a new state law. I told them I didn't need it that bad and walked out. I hope everyone else will do the same. This is just Nazi like.

Looked up some info and found this.

Anyone buying commercial-grade hydrochloric or sulfuric acid will now be required to show photo identification and have their information entered into a state database. The measure is in response to attacks in which acid was thrown on Chicago women Karli Butler and Esperanza Medina, who were permanently scarred.

This state has very interesting ideas on what they deem appropriate to spend our tax dollars on. Hey lets call everyone to office and spend time on creating stupid laws like this.

Now Menard and everyone selling muriatic acid will charge double because of the extra work that they have to do selling this stuff. Btw, can this be bought online?

Muriatic acid, among others, are used in the production of Meth. It's called the shake and bake method on the streets. The same reason they took psudephedrine off of the OTC shelves a few years back. I'm sure it won't be long before they do the same with lithium batteries.... another ingredient in Meth production. Punish everyone for the few idiots making Meth.

I mean seriously, I am not one to say who can do what to their bodies...but daaaaaaang, who wants to ingest lithium batteries and muratic acid? It sucks that a few idiots ruin it for the rest of us.

woman here at urbana wallmart was walking around for 4 hours making meth. my friends dad "officer" told me about it. it happened 2 weeks ago or so. stupid druggies!!!!

I got a couple of bottles if you want to borrow some David. Craziness. More and more I'm thinking I need to move because of Chicago stupidness...it's not Illinois, but rather Chicago. Divorce Chicago from Illinois and things would be drastically different.

I totally agree with divorcing Chicago from the rest of Illinois, but for other reasons. Meth is mostly a rural problem. Much bigger in downstate Illinois and Missouri than Chicago. Separating Chicago from the rest of Illinois would solve a whole lot of other problems though. Actually, two Illinois senators proposed that in Springfield recently. Too bad it didn't go anywhere.

In reality, meth is an issue almost everywhere now. The ingredients are mainly found in rural areas, the ammonia, but we have found rolling labs in the back of semi-trailers; labs in hotel rooms in downtown areas. The issue with upstate is that many of these goofy laws originate there and others which would help downstate get shot down there.

A bill to separate Chi-town from the rest of the state won't go anywhere because the majority of the state's polititions are from upstate and they will always shoot it down because there is no benefit for them.

Medic, I agree that Meth is a problem everywhere. Now that they've found a way to make it without ammonia, I'm sure it will be bigger in the chicago area than it has been in the past. The odors given off during manufacturing and the lack of ammonia in the area made it less prevalent in chicago than downstate. Now it'll be everywhere and that stuff is some nasty stuff.

You're right in the other point as well. Chicago will always dictate what happens downstate, which is unfortunate.
