I'm having big fun now...390 display +

Thanks Laine,
I haven't had any trouble being patient so far, so I think I can continue. I definitely don't want to rush the recovery on the back. Too many good years left if I get healed correctly to mess it up now. As for the tank, I'll just take lots of notes and refine what I have left to do, and look forward to getting back on it.

Mike, I just caught up with your thread...sorry to hear about your injuries man. There are alot of easier ways to get a vacation.:D
Couple of questions, is your QT setup staying up, or do u just put it up when your quarantining your livestock?? I was reading this awesome article by Steven Pro, check it out man...

Everything is looking awesome, keep up the great work.

Great build. The DIY Luminarc reflectors turned out great. Where did you ever find a pattern for the Luminarcs like that if you don't mind me asking? I just ordered two of thouse reflectors and it cost me an arm and a leg. About what do you think it cost you to build your own and how many hours of work?

Joey, I've read that, great article.
My QT will stay up as long at the 390 is up. I quarantine every fish, frag, rock, sand, snail, crab, algae, etc...
I use the QT to teach fish to eat. I'm a real believer in QT.

Justin, $30, 2 hours. Check this out.

Amen to that, I just started getting into quaranting ever piece of livestock with my new setup. I have a 20gal with a clamp light and a canister filter that has been working great.

I have an old 55 that I am going to use for a qt. I have a couple hang on backs for it. I guess some crushed coral instead of sand for the bottom. Easier to clean an cheaper..What are you guys using in yours?

In my 50 QT right now I have sand, rock, algae, and crabs that will go into my refugium. After that there will be no sand or rock in there, just 5" and 6" PVC 90's and T's for fish hiding places. Anything aragonite based will bind some medications, making them uselsess. I have a dual bio wheel filtration and skimmer for water quality maintenance.

Mike,

I just ran through all 15 pages of your postings and have to say It has provoked quite a few questions for my system I am working on. I will defently get in touch with you if its okay once the ball is better rolling because I would love to learn how to build a few things you had talked about througout the fourm. The tank is awsome and I really cant wait to get to your point. Thanks for all the insight and looking forward to talking in the future.

Charles, no problem, I'll help where I can. I'm sure that I'm doing some learning as I go thanks to lots of folks here on RC. Take your time and do your best work...you'll enjoy it more that way. I actually started on my stand in 07/06 and had planned for the first livestock in 06/07. This current issue with the back has pushed that back for the time. Tuesday I have an appointment with a neurological surgeon to schedule surgery, and we'll see what happens next. I still have some work to do...light rack, aquascaping, atuo top-off, connections for my Kalk stirrer, Ca reactor, carbon reactor, phos reactor, ozone, RK2 controller and who knows what else. Then I'll take a few months off to settle in some livestock and make sure that I like the physical plant before I begin construction on the woodwork.
BTW, what part of the Great State are you in???

Ummmm, what you talkin about Willis?

That does not sound good.

Yo dude,
The disc where the sciatic nerve comes out/across/near (whichever is correct) is herniated very obviously on the MRI film, and after learning about the symptoms, it appears that I've been dealing with this for about 12 years or so. The other non-surgical options don't seem likely to have long term success or will take a lot of life changes to have short term success. Right now, walking gets harder every day. So here I go!!!

Fortunately the procedure is very successful now days, and has a pretty easy recovery. I have several freinds and family that have had GREAT results

Mike, I feel your pain I have been a year in rehab and know it is tough.

I wish you the best and if you need anything just ask.

Mike I hope everything goes well with your back, im sorry to hear about the disc problems as I know my uncle has had similar issues. Anyways on a positive note I live here in the upper Pinellas county area... Palm Harbor if your familiar with the area.. But best of luck and hopefully we will be in touch!

Charles-

Cool that you're close. Have you ever been to a club meeting. We're just getting a handle on a good reorganization. Lots of cool folks there.

mike sorry to hear about your back.i just got over 2 weeks of the worst neck and back pain ive ever had.i woke up in tears and went to the ER.i wasnt able to move my neck and my right shoulder was hanging about 2"lower than my left.hope you get better soon.

Mike,

Honestly No, I havent I tried to make contact along time ago with ppl who were listed on the web page to find out some infromation but noone ever got back to my inquirey so I really havent tried to come to any, but I might reconsider given the size of the build and the fact that I know that I have alot to learn still...

Mike, so sorry about your back, how have you been coping all this time, you seemed to be walking normal before, surgery seems so radical....
