I'm having big fun now...390 display +

I've had left leg hip/leg/ankle pan issues for years and just thought it was from working/playing hard. Sleep it off and all is good for a few weeks or months. Just lately the pain has steadily increased, until the bomb went off Monday am. Due to the fact that "it" didn't just happen, the deterioration is beyond therapy. On the MRI film, the disc is hanging out quite badly and the sciatic nerve is pressed away from where it belongs, so surgery seems to be the best option, considering my age, physical condition, activity level, etc...

girlfriend got steriods, which seems to be working

I got her an inversion table to hang upside down at an angle, inthe past, I found a water bag over the door did the trick...

ok mike............ im sure there are enough people on here that will help including me lets get this tank up and running. im only 2 seconds away.

I had two epidural steroid shots yesterday, and am much better. I would say 75% of the pain is gone. I slept more than 3 hours for the first time in 3 weeks last night, and that was such a relief. I'm going to take it easy again tomorrow and then try some light work around the house on Thursday and see what happens. I'm going to Dave's (Warnberg) on Friday to pick up 5 Chromis. I'm riding with Joe (poknsnok) to the TBRC meeting on Saturday.

Hey Mike, sorry to hear you have been having health problems. I've been out of touch for the last 3 months cause our computer was down.
If I lived any where close by I would be more than happy to jump in there and help get your tank up and running.
You did a real nice job on that reflector. How much more work do you have left on your tank?

I have about a month at my normal speed to finish it. It will be delayed a bit longer than that due to my slower speed, and also the need to reinforce the "emergency savings account" which was severely dented by the month off work. I have short term disability which eventually will cover about 50% of my lost income. I will continue to take my time, since I really enjoy the build process. I hope to be going back to work on Monday, and if a couple days of that doesn't "hurt" too bad, I'll start back on the tank. I have some plumbing to wrap up...the drain line from the sump return pump to the outside piping, the overflow drain from the sump the the outside drain, the manifold for the calcium, phos, carbon reactors, and the auto top-off. Then, I'll add my dry aragonite sand, and I'll aquascape all of my DIY and dry base rock. I'm going to cement all of my rock together, so I better like it the first time. Then I need to build my light rack. I have all the angle aluminum and all the MH parts. I need to get some 72" VHOs. After that, we'll see.

Went back to work today after 4 weeks off. I took it easy, and am still a little to tired to play with the tank. I'm going to help our a few of my new TBRC friends with their tanks this weekend, and go the the garage sale at FAOIS. I think I'll be able to start on the light rack next Monday. If so, I'll start posting pics again.

That sounds great Mike - glad you're getting back to normal. Just make sure you don't lift anything heavier than 12 oz- :D.

Great advice. I will be careful to follow that closely!

I got some of it from Lighting Specialties. They no longer sell it. The rest came from a club member who bought 300 lbs of it.

Well, I've been back on my feet a couple weeks and slowly getting going again. I very patiently built my light rack. I could only work for about an hour per day and very slowly during that hour, so it took me a couple weeks. But here it is. It has three 250w mogul MH in DIY reflectors. (Thanks ReefArtist for the reflector help!!! You can check out her 280 build here: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1145853
I will use XM 10K MH bulbs and Ice Cap electronic ballasts. I also have 2 160w VHOs on the rack. The bulbs are URI Super Actinic R and will be driven by an Ice Cap 660 electronic ballast. The rack will mount to drawer slides. The slides will mount to pivots in the rear of the hood frame and sit on frame metal in the front so the light rack can pivot up in the front for better access and slide out for bulb maintenance and cleaning. The slide function and lift function will be operated by electric linear actuators. There will also be another linear actuator to open the front of the hood after it is skinned in mahogany. Here are some pics of the rack.

I'm going to SRC this weekend. Next week I will, with the help from some friends, get the light rack mounted, and start putting together my auto top off system. It feels good to be back at work (part time light duty) and working on the tank.

I like your lighting. Those will put off some sweet light rays. I need to change my light set up. I should do the same thing and build some type housing to cover them and hang it from the ceiling.
We have those type of reflectors at work and I love the light spread. We are using the Galaxy Electronic Ballast With 400 watt Reeflux bulbs and the clarity of the light is amazing. Very crisp.
