I'm having big fun now...390 display +

Mike you keep the fish in QT for 30 days right? What level of hyposalinity do you do for your dips and how long is your dip?

Fish stay at 1.010 for 6 weeks for Tangs and Anthias, 4 weeks for everythig else, unless they came from a "questionable" tank or LFS, then 6 weeks for everything.

If you are talking about coral dips, I follow the TMPCC and Revive directions, and then place the corals in the QT. I use FWE and Interceptor in the QT after I have it full of corals. If I see nothing wrong to begin with, I only treat with FWE and Interceptor two times. If I find a problem, I treat until the problem is gone.

you keep the fish at 1.010 for 4-6 weeks.?? thats a long time. So I calculate your total qt time at 12-15 weeks??

Where did that math come from?? About 10 days going down, 4 weeks down, 10 days coming up.

The two tangs stayed at 1.010 for 6 weeks.

I never really checked the days going up and down. When we talked about it, I thought I had a good idea, but then I figured out that I wasn't really sure. I'm checking the actual days on this QT. It took 12 days down and I missed one day. I'll go up at the same pace so probably 11 days.

Thanks Mike

Thanks Mike

I had the pleasure to go and see Mike's tank tonight and all I can say is wow, this is what I want when I get a larger tank. Mike's work is clean, organized and extremely well thought out. And not to mention he is a stand-up guy who I would turn my tank over to for a long vacation and not even think twice. Actually, it would probably be better when I returned. In summary this is even more impressive than reading this thread which is also great. Mike whatever I can do for you in the future please ask. I look forward to talking to you in the future and hopefully having you come over to my place to offer a critique my setup. Also, thank you for hashing out a lengthy discussion and taking up a few hours of your night and tell your wife thank you for your time.

Thanks Chris, It was great to discuss the reef world with you.
Hopefully my reef lives up to it's potential!!!

I think it will you have all the guts to make a Tank of the month, now all you have to do is stock it. I think when you start to QT your coral, you need to stock that 50 to the brim and then after its cycle in there you will have a great pallet to work with.

Good luck with everything. PS you have a beautiful home!

i dont' know if anyone has said this yet, but that tank is a little too close to that pool table for me
It's not as close as it looks. The woodwork will completely cover the tank for the times we play pool.

Thanks Jim, I do primarily diesel driveability, computer engine control systems, the lighter work, so the back is progressing well.

Mike I am planning on using AC3 and 2 of the DC8 1 DC4 to integrate my system plus hook up a PC with a touchscreen
and two cameras one inside the sump area and one for the front of the tank that way when I'm on the ocean be able to check on my system. On my research I have found people and like yourself are having problems with the DC8 can you give me more input. Before I spend $1000 on the Neptune system .

My DC8 had a "circuit board faillure". I sent it in for repair and they had it for a week and sent it back. We did a group buy in the Tampa area. ReefArtist also had a problem, but it was cured with a new program. I haven't heard of anyone else local having problems. The system works great. I'm also going to add a couple cameras and network my AC3, so I can have remote monitoring.

Hey Mike! Yes I had a problem and Curt (Support AC3) was great. We worked on the problem for 3 days and ended up upgrading the firmware. This seems to have worked (kind of) I have had a few lights turn on and off on their own for a few days. This last week everything stayed up and I've not had a problem. Intermittent problems as I'm sure you know are the worst to figure out. I think it's calm enough now to hook up the O3. As long as I'm going to be home I don't mind, I can keep my eyes on it. I think mine was the way I decided to connect them. I have the DC8 connected to my Moon Lights then to DC4HD this then will go to my 1000 extension. I think the moon lights being between everything is what caused the problem - software overload :).

just read all 25 pages. great tank, sorry to read about your back I know all about being laid out had car wreck 12/10/06 and I am just back to walking now for 3 months and still don't work not to mention when I got back to using commputer couldnt remember all pass words or logins. but the body sure is ammazing, anyway enough of that, once again great tank and Im jelous I have to start all over no one knew how to take care of all my tanks while in comma. sorry for spelling learning to do that again :)
