I'm having big fun now...390 display +

Yes very sorry you have had to go through so much. You will make it back and stronger - friendships are always stronger than muscle strength. I've been through a lot in the past 5 years and I must say I'm much happier in mine and sprite now being around my reefing community than ever before. This is a very health hobby - you need to get yourself a small tank it really does wonders. Good luck and please if you need any help just give me a PM.

thanks for the well wishes, all I can keep now are my freshwater. well for the moment sitting on your a$$ for a year shuree does kill the savings

Back in the 70's I did some water skiing on Lake Travis in Austin. I'm from Houston. I kept freshwater for 25 years. I had Angels and Discus (separate tanks) for the last 10 years of that before my wife discovered saltwater. Fresh is definetely much less expensive.

On another note, one of my yellow coris wrasses is changing colors...red tail and red and green around the head. Isn't this the colors of the male??? I tried to get a picture, but it's hard to tell, the colors are still muted.

Sure thing Mike, that will be your Alpha Male. My female stayed yellow and just got larger. I know I have other males and they at this time are about a quarter of the size of the Alpha male. It will be very interesting to see how much they change as they age. Mine spend all day picking at the rocks - everywhere, they are great!

Thanks Carol, I hope it looks like yours as it grows. I'm going to get two more of the yellow coris wrasse the next time I QT fish, which will probably be in early May.

mflamb yes lake travis is great for sking and wakeboarding or just looking at mermaids :) on the yellow coris what is the adult length? I've seen a few in magazines and other threads and they all look 1 or 2 inches

Oh don't tell my Male wrasse he's only 1 or 2 inches - LOL. He's at this time is about 5 or 6 inches and I think he still might grow a little. The female is about 4 to 5 inches. These fish need lots of room to swim, hunt and chase each other. They're personalities have really changed now that they have been moved from a 75g to a 280g - they are in constant motion.

Yes that is a tooth you see :).

They love fresh clams!

Do you have a cover on your tank? Maybe a stupid question, but I lost my wrasse to carpet surfing. Was well behaved, then one day dead.

Very nice fish though, and the adult colours are spectacular :)

A cover and sand are a must for these fish. They sleep in the sand at night or when really scared. Really what I find if during the day they get scared - straight up into the mesh I have. I now call it my wrasse trampoline :).

Mike, I think you will get your male to look just like mine of not better. You feed your fish with good healthy foods and give them great variety, that helps get their color to look there best. You watch them very closely and with all this combined - they will shine for you. Good luck with yours and you also Joe.

As you can tell I really like these fish :D.

wow that wrass looks great, not 1 to 2 inches for sure! that makes me sad though i read where lots of people have yellow coris in RSM's and smaller nanos

I don't have any type of lid on the 50 QT or the 390 display. Hmmm, I'll have to work on that.

I've learnt the hard way it's a necessity. My wrasse was good for over 2 years, then like I said earler went carpet surfing.

I wouldn't think so, but if you see them near clams don't panic, as they are great predators on parasitic snails of the Pyramidellidae family, which you obviously wont want around clams.

They haven't touched my clams at all. Open up a "littleneck clam" from the sea food market and sit back and watch the fun. It's funny how they approach them - very carefully. Normal clams that we keep - never touched.
